Hi all,

Thank you all in advance for reading and contributing.

I’m VA Platinum, and my wife is VA Red. She is currently on 243/250 SC for Silver, with the final 7 SC required from VA-marketed/operated flights.

We’ve just flown to BCN via MXP and SIN on Singapore Airlines in Business class, so based on those flights she she is sitting on 462 SC total.

However, she hasn’t progressed to Silver as she hasn’t yet met the VA-operated minimum - this we understand. Once she earns the final 7 SC and reaches Silver, she’ll then need 500 SC for Gold, of which 250 must be from VA-marketed/operated flights. So if she is already on 462 SC total, she’d effectively only need another 125 SC (after triggering Silver) on VA-operated flights to reach Gold.

Today, I noticed this message on her Velocity account: “You have reached the limit of Status Credits you can earn from family pooling, partner airline flights and other eligible activities. All further Status Credits must be earned from Virgin Australia marketed and/or operated flights flown by you.”

It appears that none of the ~160 SC from the recent SIA business flights are accumulating (they appear in the transaction history but aren’t counting), presumably because she hasn’t yet met the VA minimum. We also have more SIA Business flights coming up in ~10 days:

We have a few more SIA flights coming up in the next 10 days (CDG-SIN and SIN-MEL ~220 SC). After that, she’ll be flying monthly MEL–SYD return in VA Business, so meeting VA minimums going forward won’t be an issue. My question is, once she earns the final 7 VA SC and triggers Silver, what happens to the SIA SC already earned but currently capped and the SIA SC from the upcoming long-haul flights in the next 10 days.

Is it:
1. She starts at 250/500 for Gold, with none of the SIA SC counting retrospectively; or
2. She jumps forward appropriately (e.g. to ~375/500), with those partner SC counting once the VA minimum is met?

This matters because if option (1) applies, there’s little point crediting upcoming flights to Velocity, and we’d instead:
1. Credit to KrisFlyer, or
2. Family pool to me (though my own SIA flights already cover my non-VA cap for Platinum requalification)

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated — thanks again.

If somebody can please clarify that would be amazing.6aff54dc-42df-4ba9-b566-83fc580c75ac.jpeg46c157c4-2c84-4c4b-a9f3-e24f47b68834.jpeg

That sentence, which is the title of this thread, relates to qualification/requalification and where SC's may be applied in relation.

It does not mean status credits cannot be earned, it just means that no status credits earned from those sources will be applied to Qualification.

Note this is under the heading "Upgrade to Silver".
