Loyalty and airlines - are we expecting ridiculous things??

I think it is the term 'loyalty program' that is the problem. It is really just a marketing program.

Losing QFF points and calling in the media

It's an interesting question. I think the Qantas and Virgin models are ok, if perhaps the period is a little short. Perhaps 36 months, with an option to pay to extend? I dislike the SQ/MH model of expiry. The italian model of expiring the whole program is worse.

Offshore hotel booking websites expected to lose GST exemption from 1 July 2019

They've managed to for a few overseas sites that target Australians. I'm guessing this extends that

VA Points / SC Credits - Anyone notice how slow it has become recently

"Airlines need to comply with consumer law" - ACCC

I tend to agree. Consumer Protection is needed against their dodgy contracts, but at the same time, I don't think it should be about offering windfall gains to consumers if they mess up.

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

Just because something can be used as payment, doesn't mean that it has to be. It seems to be buried in the idea that prices etc in a shop are an 'invitation to treat', not an offer. Where a debt does not exist already (such as when you enter a shop), they can state that they don't want to...

    A380 Production Sadness

I don't think it was so much that - it was more the rise of the big twins, with the superior economics that won the day.
