I was on this flight yesterday. They gave me a call at 11:30 and asked if I'd be willing to go on Qantas flight at 3pm (also business class), but I had already made plans and asked if I could stay on the aircraft. Luckily I managed to keep my seat.

Pretty much anywhere on the coast of Australia is pretty close to excellent diving. I live in Sydney and there are some awesome dives within driving distance - Bare Island, Kurnell (excellent chance of seeing seadragons), Forster, Jervis Bay. I'm diving the Yongala again this weekend - amazing...

I'm not necessarily unhappy with Qantas, but I have flown a bit with Virgin and would have liked to fly more with them. However the benefits of gold status over silver status means I'm less likely to unless necessary.

Sigh :( I status matched for Silver just over a month ago, but last week on 29 September I flew my last flight to qualify for Gold on Qantas. The status match program of course ended on the 30th, by which time I didn't yet have proof of my Gold status. Looks like I'm going to be flying Qantas...

Does Qantas have a 'no credit card fee' for using one of the Qantas credit cards? If so, you could save some points by opting to pay $7+ and then not get the credit card fee?
