Just had a call from DJ. The 2pm Mel -Syd today has been downgraded from an a330 to a 737 (which is a bugger as it was the reason I paid business on that one.....and the double points promo).

They've also canned the 3pm service, so have an a330 full of passengers to rebook and are missing the next service.

Best option they could give me was flying via Canberra at 3.25pm. Guess that there's either a lot of plats flying today, or it's not a factor in them prioritising rebookings.

Although, good on them for letting me know before I left home.

As a wild guess they may have 20% or ???% of a A330 to rebook. If it was full I doubt they would have subbed & cancelled the next flight

Unless it went tech somewhere.
I have heard that the DJ staff have nicknames for XFA and XFB.

I was on the a330 service last week.....was chokka.

If you look at their website for availability of flights today, the only one with a single seat is the 9pm, which has business class only.

I'm thinking it must have had a very heavy load.

I'm at the gate waiting for that 331 to BNE. An hour late now - even had to leave Stark in the Lounge.

It looks like a Pacific Blue livery - wondering what the quality of business class will be like..??

I was cancelled Friday MEL - BNE, fortunately checked online to see the status and got in quickly to make the change. Received a text a few hours later to call them - impressed they did get in touch though!

Does explain why I had trouble checking in the night before...

Well I was delayed about 1.5 hours out of MEL today due to "catering issues".

Now downgraded to an E90 on a later connection.

Upside was that Business Class service MEL-BNE was impeccable!!

Oh well. All went from bad to worse. Not only did the nice direct J flight on a plush A330 slip through my fingers, the MEL-CBR was a non refurbished aircraft. They'd filled the PE seats to the gills because of the issues they were having, so got to enjoy an unhappy baby who was enjoying an op up on the way. Then just to ice the cake of my fantastic journey, CBR-SYD was an E190....................

Couldn't have got any more daylight between the flight I thought I was having today and the reality (other than by flying Tiger).

I was not impressed today. The 737-800 I was going to be on got replaced with a 737-700 and not just anyone, one of the very few with no refit !!!!

I was on this flight yesterday. They gave me a call at 11:30 and asked if I'd be willing to go on Qantas flight at 3pm (also business class), but I had already made plans and asked if I could stay on the aircraft.

Luckily I managed to keep my seat.

I received a text message on Saturday saying that my Sunday 17:00 service SYD-MEL had been cancelled. I rang up and the agent remarked it was due to an engineering issue before offering to shift flights. I ended up on a very full flight, no apparent status shadow (unlike my MEL-SYD leg). At the start of boarding, "business" passengers were invited to use the priority lane but after the aerobridge I saw the aircraft was one with the older interior, and I would have been sorely disappointed had I thought I would be getting nice new business but wound up in these older seats. No op-up but I wasn't missing much.

Still, from my perspective the cancellation and rebooking was handled smoothly.

DJ560 (PER-SYD) was downgraded today. My bulkhead aisle seat turned into a middle seat. :(

My DJ572 PER-SYD last night/this morning was downgraded to a 737 too.

I specifically booked that flight on the A330 so I could get some proper sleep.

Still got 1A with no one in 1B though.

(My emphasis)

That may explain the QF flights in DJ's flight arrival details mentioned earlier.

Your probably right. The flight numbers didn't match QF flights, so were prob internal VA flights for customers re-booked on Qantas flights.
