Increased $ charges for domestic redemptions?

Just booked a return flight to Sydney for this weekend, and noticed the fees were an eye-watering $42.77 per sector. The other day and previously I am sure these were around $37. Does anyone know why? Increased government tax, new/increased VFF surcharge? I can't seem to find anything on the...

State of Malaysia Airlines Lounges at KUL

I've been through quite a few airports and train stations in the post covid era and KUL was by far the dirtiest and most disgusting airport I've visited. Including the MH lounge. In fact the seats in MH J were also filthy. Sometimes they're the only option for a redemption but I won't be going...

    Change fee increases

Fees increased from $80 to $89 effective 18 November. Any bookings prior get one change at the lower rate, then subsequent changes at $89. Just spotted when looking up some fares this morning. Velocity Reward Seat changes seem (thankfully) uneffected.

IHG Status Benifits with 3rd Party Bookings?

Sorry not a review but a question. If booking via a third party e.g. amex travel, can one still insert the IHG number and receive benefits, or no? I presume latter but thought I would check!

Seven countries, Zero COVID tests (then 3 to enter Australia...)

After quite literally years of waiting, the time has finally come to join others and get myself on a plane out of Australia for a holiday. This trip will entail a lot of firsts (though no First Class) - first time visits to Turkey, Switzerland and Norway. First time on Singapore Airlines...

    Delivery Delays? COVID related?

According to my AusPost app, my healthylife order from Tuesday just arrived. Wasn't expected to ship until next week. So I can recommend if you can get your order to qualify for express post and you need RATs

Status Earning Changes for AAdvantage from March 2022

Looks like we are safe, for now. Changes apply to status qualification (and some quite nasty changes too, but thankfully don't really have an effect on the majority here) https://aadvantagestatus.com/?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=newaadvantage

Quick way to obtain very small number of IHG points?

Hi all, I am an agonising 111 points short of a reward night using IHG Rewards - wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to make up the tiny shortfall? I know I can buy 1,000 points, but wondered if there is any other way to quickly grab such a small number.... Thanks!

    A simple flying 'roo return

Ever since returning to Australia from living in the UK for 2 years in 2016, I've been a rusted on VA flyer. Quickly stepped up through the FF ranks and ended up Platinum, retaining for several years. I've really, really enjoyed flying with VA. It's simple, no fuss, and it's relatively laid...

Virgin Australia waives Fees & Fare Difference for those needing to get home

There has been so much talk about VA's future on this forum over the last fortnight and I still believe the airline will be saved from collapse. But you know what? If these are to be the last days of Virgin Australia (which, again, I don't believe they will), then let's all commend them for the...

UAE bans all passenger flights effective 25 March 2020 [now lifted]

UAE Government has taken out of the hands of EK & EY the decision to keep flying or not. They are now effectively grounded beginning in 48 hours time (Wednesday morning UAE time) https://www.khaleejtimes.com/coronavirus-outbreak/covid-19-uae-suspends-all-passenger-and-transit-flights...

How can the government protect our domestic airlines?

There is little doubt that a liquidity crunch is coming to airlines in Australia like a tidal wave, as bookings have all but collapsed. While many sectors of the economy need assistance, as this is AustralianFrequentFlyer, I feel it is not out of place to focus on the aviation industry. So...

Cancel card & posting of points

Hi all, I can't seem to get a straight answer out of AMEX (I don't think they understand the question...) so thought I would ask here. I have a direct-earn QFF AMEX (The Westpac Black) which is coming up to a year's anniversary. I've decided to get rid of the card because the $199 annual fee is...

    Etihad restructures order book

Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways restructures Airbus, Boeing jet orders | Reuters Hardly a surprise, but I guess that is the reality for EY as they seek to restore some sort of financial order.
