Using QF Gold with Skywards Blue

Why not just get one of the big local Emirates Skywards credit cards that come with lounge access and fast-track status? Otherwise, you will likely run into issues trying to use QF for lounge and crediting to EK.

    Skyteam Status Discussion

They're not selling status. It's a match. You need top-tier with another airline to be eligible to apply. AFKLM, KQ, VS, DL and other Skyteam airlines all offer StatusMatch.

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Somewhat yes, but miles sales to US banks are worth considerably more than other regions. Plus, EK Gold is easy to get with a CC in the USA. More airlines will limit premium inventory to status holders this year.

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

You (and millions more) are precisely the type of passenger they don't want redeeming for F, IMO. The idea is - protect F seats for members who are active, flying, and contribute $$ to the airline.

    direct turnaround

Look at the same flight# from say, today or tomorrow and look where the aircraft is coming from. It's likely that it's the same aircraft and in penang it's very easy to walk off, and line up again for the return. Small note - firefly is not in oneworld...If you were thinking of doing that...

Have you accidentally booked the wrong flight?

Thanks, Matt, you've made me paranoid enough to check all my upcoming bookings for accuracy ;)

Qantas Denial of OW Emerald access to Sydney First Lounge

It will be the standard globally soon. Whatever FQTV is will dictate everything. No number changing after check-in.

    Feet on walls / bulkhead

Surely you have better things to occupy yourself with than what someone else does which isn't a safety issue, Not excusing what they're doing, but complaining IMO is about as petty as it gets. In other news, trying out what it's like to put my feet up "inappropirately", at 38,000 feet. Just...

    Skyteam Status Discussion

Another option is to status match to Vietnam (including top-tier Platinum), then subscribe to their booster program, which gives you 3x qualifying miles on VN flights. This makes it possible to keep your QF/VA status through domestic, and do one or two intl trips to retain top-tier with Skyteam...

    LATAM status match $80USD

The boat (or is it, the plane?) for Aus residents to match to LATAM has departed. Personally I'd book QF# codes or be more creative and go the other way around the world ;D

"Coffee tax" creeping into IHG hotels

That $5 coffee can cost hotels a $200,000 high-value guest. Frankly I can't wait for chains to start penalising properties who screw elites (that affects all other hotel owners negatively too)...

Shouldn't the 1.X% CC charge be absorbed by the hotel too?

    QF Platinum Recognition on flights

Put into perspective, as EK Plat, I receive no less than 3 personal 1 on 1 introductions on every flight. Even more in F. In fact, a few weeks ago, on another airline where I'm a top-tier member, the captain came out to welcome me. oneworld used to have service delivery standards whereby...

Using Points to book flight for friend.

Welcome to Australia. Rules for everything. The vast majority of other airline progams would not care, so long as you are travelling on the same itinerary.

Citi cards become myCard - no more CX, KF, EY, QR from 16/11/25

That's not how the agreements work. It is more likely that local airlines teamed up to indirectly kick out intl airlines from the market. Regulators would love that.

DXB business lounge, multiple entries on long layover

On the EK site, go to the Dubai Connect. If it shows under your booking, you may be eligible. Submit and see. There are reports of folks having it approved. I don't ever remember having jetlag, from 1000's of flights. The trick is to ONLY stay awake for the first 2 hours of every flight...
