    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Someone on the self serve next to me the other week won $5. No doubt these promotions are somewhat built into pricing anyway, it’s never free, marketing budget still comes from somewhere. 100 million customers per month chances are probably pretty slim.

No doubt will be a good video for training departments to use!

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

I had a classic reward JQ MEL-HNL once and they put me on QF via Sydney when it got canceled. It appears only selected people got transferred to the QF flight, it still went out pretty empty also. My other party on the flight on a cash fare didn’t get a transfer. Same Balance sheet between the...

Cairns-based East Air launches Cairns to Hamilton Island, adds Dash 8s

Interesting reading that, Alan Milne who was the Skytrans boss is the owner. It looks like he no longer works at Skytrans. Could this perhaps take on some of the Rex routes?

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Always been a weak spot. I’ll never forget how the airlines previously exploited the ‘per passenger per sector’ rort last decade by paying with card, and it was something like $8.

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Good call. MEL-SIN-MEL now cancelled this Sunday. From reports they are not putting people on QF, simply moving to another day and asking people to submit accommodation receipts.

QantasLink to fly to Christmas & Cocos (Keeling) Islands

I assume Virgin ended the contract as they are ending A320 ops in November. They have held it from the Skywest days as far as I recall.

Up to $800 off Qantas flights to Paris

Surely with QR doubling its Aussie flights essentially overnight this is starting to bite across the market.

    Cannot Purchase Jetstar Excess Baggage

Might be able to add 7kg to carry on if they give you the option to increase like they do for domestic.

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Early build 787s which have been pushed hard and are all due for the first heavy check about now, so they are not in great form. D checks start in 4 months and the aircraft are screaming out for these checks!

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Still no sign of either 2x787s returning to service, so the cancellations roll on. 😐 Today’s MEL-SIN extended onto coughet as a positioning flight to run Wednesday’s coughet to Sydney service which they used to rescue stranded Melbourne pax last night. So JQ8 is cancelled tonight, and tomorrow...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

7 to 8kg with max one item for the bin, and one personal under the seat would work for me If they want to go higher that would be good also, The Scoot 10kg is great and we have used many times for intra Asia hops.

VA Business Class Seats on eBay

I recall they went to some South American Airlines plus some in Europe. These seats had been the Mark 1 seats that got replaced from memory with the Business. I assume they have been sitting around for all these years and someone wants them gone. Thought they might have tried to flog them off...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Not sure targeting elite guests would go down well either. Perhaps it’s just going to be one piece plus one personal piece. Not the two plus one. A whole bunch of carriers don’t allow the carry on to be split into two bags in the overhead bin. Moving from 7kg to 6kg or something won’t do...
