    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Or if you can get the chatbot window to appear on the contact page, it is another way - ask for an agent. The wait and/or incompetence might be better, might be worse.

    Modestly RTW-ing: Scandinavia-Canada with extras

Many a time, I have started writing a trip report, only to run out of time or motivation (the last one spent eight months as a draft and then I gave up), but finally I have one well underway and here we go with Chapter 1... It's written as a present-tense narrative but is now in the past...

Are you using AI / ChatGPT for travel planning and while travelling?

But as with most conveniences, you can't rely on the average user to do the due diligence, alas

Are you using AI / ChatGPT for travel planning and while travelling?

Soooo, I toddled off this evening and thought I'd give ChatGPT a burl again, given my earlier post about not having tried AIs for travel purposes except for a failed attempt at routes. I asked for snorkelling recommendations with certain geographic and timing criteria, and origin conveniences. I...

Are you using AI / ChatGPT for travel planning and while travelling?

I think the description of the various good uses for AI have been very interesting.:D I haven't used AI for this so far, but do a number of other complex research/explanation tasks with AI from time to time and *almost always* encounter significant errors. So, I think it'd be great if people...

    General Medical issues thread

I really don't think you should ever be less than certain when entering a country.

    Buying Velocity points

Just a reminder that a foreign transaction fee will be incurred when buying points this way on most cards (nowadays, given so few fee-free cards).

    QANTAS Cyber Incident

You could use Gmail's "plus addressing" or similar from other providers, but yes, as long as you can consolidate into one interface it is a good solution (and one I've used to identify two providers who had unidentified/undeclared breaches in the past).

New SkyBus routes; Sunshine & Eastern Express

Wow, good point, though that could easily create bus capacity issues. I can't imagine the cheaper fare lasting long unless, perhaps, they have patronage issues. The Eastern Express is full price.

Vietnam Trip Planning - March 2026 - Itinerary Advice needed (HCMC/Hanoi/Da Nang)

Having a bad day at work, your great pics have now made me very annoyeder because I just want to fly there right now :P

New SkyBus routes; Sunshine & Eastern Express

Agree. But it does kind of coordinate with the first two trains arriving on the Geelong Line (05:36, 05:50) plus Ballarat (05:32). I would guess that as the assumption is this bus is primarily for non-Sunshine-locals (ie, a much broader "west/southwest" catchment) then there is some logic to it...

AFF Review: Emirates 777-300ER Premium Economy (MEL-DXB)

This. However, even Y+ can be cough for long legs. I was very pissed off on SQ when there was a controller box in the middle of my legroom.

AFF Review: Emirates 777-300ER Premium Economy (MEL-DXB)

China Airlines's PE cabin is very pleasant (hard shell seat and all/mostly 2-3-2). I found SQ's PE a real step down in comfort. Entertainment and food, however, will generally be better on SQ or EK.

AFF Review: Emirates 777-300ER Premium Economy (MEL-DXB)

Yes, that PE fare looks way cheaper than I've ever seen with SQ.

Check baggage through 2 Separate Tickets with China Airlines

I would also say that their branch contact email centres sometimes provide clear written replies, so I prefer that as my contact point, rather than phone. Choose the country version for the CI website and then the "branch office" page under "contact us". For interlining, VN or TW would both have...

Qantas - Why no WhatsApp or Chatbot?

The queries I've had with chatbots almost always need human assistance. I strongly prefer being able to write clear descriptions of issues in the hope they'll be read properly and actioned, but for airlines in the last year, I've found that the humans staffing live or asynchronous chat solutions...

    Virgin Australia Neighbour-Free Seating

Oh that's good to know that expectations are managed clearly (re QF), though I suspect most people going down this path will probably still be in a "it's mine" mindset.

    Virgin Australia Neighbour-Free Seating

But the same problem as always exists with this: Where you are in a row of 3+ seats, it will be hard to comfortably and practically "protect" the spare seat from encroachment by the adjacent passenger.

quick review from the Garden lounge, Qsuite MEL-DOH-CDG experience

Yeah, if anyone remember the OLD Doha airport, adding bling, gates, lounges, space seemed to have zero effect, except the toilets are less frightening. Much less frightening. And still bussing for bloody half an hour to your plane.

World Debit Mastercard now widely available

I'm confused by this. Cover-more is owned by Zurich. The applicable CBA policy and the (presumably direct from) Cover-more policy may have different rules, but they're both Zurich. The CBA policy seems to cover a good range of missed connections - including prepaid travel arrangements (which is...
