"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

It could appeal to people not aspiring to fly J. Case in point. I recently booked MEL to OOL return. There was nothing available on Qantas. Virgin had fares of 11800 points, 14900, 29000 and more. I settled on 11800 one way but had to go above the award rate with 14900 the other. Still better...

    'Other' would surely apply. Unfortunately.

    Coles gift card offers

So anyway, what's the incentive for giftcards (or Heritage Bank) to sell a $250 card at $231.30? Interest earnt, cards go unused, advertising? All of the above? I can't see them making a profit out of it.

Looks like the offer has ended early.

    Coles gift card offers

Finally! Rates due today and turns out I didn't pay the previous instalment, conveniently. But I also had Amex and CBA problems. Success with low points Coles Mastercard and desperately resorted to an ANZ debit card.

Shares for Dummies [One off Selling of Parcel]

You are right about CGT, you will have to pay at tax time, if there has been a CG that is. Provided they were purchased over 12 months ago the tax rate is halved. You said you've never traded before. Does that mean you received them through work? Or perhaps you inherited them. If you inherited...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Same but different. Offers are marketed around flying. Not a lottery. I would go so far as to say that if asked you anyone who is not a member of QFF (about half of Australia) what the program is about, most would say free flights and would not be aware you could use points for toasters and the...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Yeah, but whenever a sign up bonus or similar is marketed, its always something like "..you could take off to New York..." it's never, "you could buy a brand new toaster".

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Not worth their effort. Cheaper to (leave customers to) deal with a handful of unwanted $0.00 balance account than build a bunch of rules and processes around some zero value customers. I would have closed the Citi account before D-Day in your position.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

We meet that stereotype! My wife and I have flown 3 times to the USA on QF with 3 kids. 2 on points (the other was going to be on points but we gave up our booking when a sale come up within 24 hours). All in economy. To me, just getting 5 reward tickets is a bonus. $13k less to spend for our...

Article: Most of today's flights to Sydney are sold out due to Taylor Swift

How do you know that if you don’t know the music? Ok you are probably right, but perhaps your listening habits have changed. I listened a lot to the radio when I was younger, but now less so and when I do it is less likely to be a station playing TS. My kids don't listen to the radio at all, so...

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

SYD to East Coast says 52 status credits for a Qantas marketed reward. It doesn't refer to segments. At least that's how I interpret it for the 52 to make sense.

Article: Loyalty Programs Creating Two Tiers of the Same Status

Maybe, but PC/ PC+ vs. Gold is a good example of multiple tiers already in place. You get a benefit with PC+ (or QP paid) but it doesn't go as far as SG on lounge access, let alone other benefits. I would think Qantas already have the balance largely right on this one (for their purposes). To...

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

Yes it needs to be a QF flight and of course you will still need to be a PC member at the time of flying. Reward seats on other airlines will rarely (never?) be available with a QF code if using QF points. There seems a bit of availability SYD to SCL, but a mix of QF or other carriers. Generally...

    Amex Rejection earning $300k

I don't agree with those saying to get rid of the LOC. You make a lot more than me. I am older. I have a mortgage owing more than your LOC. I can still get credit cards. I wonder, are you a contractor rather than an FTE?

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Yes you are right, there are a few. Maybe I don't look as often as I thought. I do look more at peak times and have been looking for Dec/Jan 353 days out or whatever it is and there is never anything left for a lowly Bronze, J or Y. Except via SIN and DBX which is not so desirable.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

As someone who regularly looks out for JNB reward flights in any class with QF, I say you'd be lucky. They just don't come up too often. You can get there with Emrites but that adds a lot of points, dollars and time to the trip. (I don't believe Malaysian goes there. I do see KUL to JNB...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

If you mean separate bookings then no. If everything is the one booking and a flight is delayed causing you to miss the next flight, they will put you on another flight. But if it is a separate booking you will be stranded if you miss a flight. If you believe you should be able to book a flight...
