    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Of course not - a huge part of the whole business case for WSI is the 24-hour status and they would not be so stupid as to throw that away by allowing new residential development in the direct/loudest part of the flight paths. There are a small number of existing residents, and the NIMBY's...

QF flight delay - rebooked and overnight hotel

It does seem QF is more generous than many other airlines, both in AUS and abroad, when it comes to overnight accommodations solely connected to weather delays. It's not guaranteed by the conditions of carriage, but it's something they usually do. At least this is a benefit that passengers...

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

I sometimes get low-key angry when this occurs - I've run through terminals, pushed through crowds, possibly inconvenienced other people to make my connection - and then it's further delayed. I find when flights are slightly delayed, airlines are always optimistic about the length of the delay...

    Singapore Airlines Delays/Cancellations

I see the actually arrival time ended up being 2255 close to the estimated 2250. Good thing it was MEL, not SYD, as that would have been quite nail-biting with the curfew!

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Absolutely. My company runs advanced manufacturing, and operations facilities in Western Sydney that require business travellers from all over AU (and further afield). Heck, I know one executive from Texas who prefers to fly AirNZ , he would be very happy to fly HOU-AKL-WSI to remove the slog...

Everyday Rewards launches Everyday Extra subscription product

I've had these a couple of times - I quite like them actually. Not sure how to describe but compared to a regular potato chip, maybe a bit lighter and more surface area, meaning more intense flavour (and probably more oil, haha).

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

I wonder if this is because it consistently has to be held for connecting passengers? Given they have an exception for shorter MCT, it makes sense that they would know this is a problem. The question is why they don't just schedule it later, but I'm wondering if they're playing some game here...

Darwin Qantas Club - opening times for a late flight?

The hours listed on the Qantas web site are definitive; it says: "One hour before each Qantas operated service until last Qantas departure." In my experience this is followed, probably you are seeing different times in old reviews as the times of departure have changed around quite a bit...

Changi - different types of boarding passes for transit?

It would be interesting to further understand the technical circumstances in which the system allows a connecting partner to issue a BP, but then the operating carrier later refuses to use it. I've had this happen on QF->AA years ago, but it was detected and sorted at the gate, red light when...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Does WSI have "flex" gates like Adelaide and others, that can be domestic or international? Seems this might be the ideal setup at the start given the expected light international load. It can be a challenge with things like lounges however - if SQ mainline really is flying there (and not...

    LAX Metro now open.

Wasn't there already a bus connection from one of the lines, C line I guess? I don't understand how this is any different , prior to the people mover opening?

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Drove past WSI and was surprised on how complete it looks. What's the major infrastructure that's left to do - just the terminal? Are testing flights already starting? I imagine the new "tower-less" ATC system will need some amount of testing.

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

"Recently the final Qantas-branded and crewed plane touched down on Lord Howe Island's tiny airstrip." Is that accurate? I thought it was a gradual transition period?

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Not sure if you're aware, but in 2024 Japan was Australia's biggest third biggest overseas destination for leisure, beating out UK and US for that slot and approaching NZ depending on if you remove family visits from the stats (Indonesia kept its top spot). So you can bet Qantas is finding...

Upgrade to Business using Qantas points on Emirates flight

As explained in the above thread, not possible as QFF points cannot be used to upgrade Emirates flights. Even if you were booked on Qantas metal, on a route with first class like SYD-SIN-LHR, Qantas doesn't allow upgrades of classic reward fares to First - the highest you can go is Business...

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

That might still be a flow-on effect from the QF9 diversion to MLE yesterday which has disrupted a few PER services... bad luck man :(

Article: Checked Bag Fees Cost US Airlines Millions

I've always been impressed with the US airports, at least major ones I've been through like DFW, ATL, etc, that manage to connect your bag through on very short connecting itineraries (45 minutes or even less). They also have very efficient bag delivery systems if your bag does misconnect...

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Bit late to reply here, but note that you would be able to also credit the SQ flights to SQ's program or another StarAlliance carrier that you might have an account with, like United. Getting double the points is a small benefit of getting booked onto another alliance/airline....

Qantas Classic Reward Flight cancelled and unable to select suitable option on-line

I'm glad you got an agent who knew the process (and had the right authorisation) to convert the seat to a classic reward and thus allow rebooking of your ticket onto the flight you wanted. This is a much better outcome than what we've seen in the past where the agents claim there are no seats...

    A330s out of life

I know this isn't a JQ thread, but I don't understand why they are offering more PE seats on the 787 but at the same time converting many routes to A321's with no PE seats at all? While I can understand not offering them on domestic routes where they are worried about taking business from QF...
