I don hit think the lounge area has changed, though?

    Townsville Qantas Club

Townsville QC has declined further. They went from couches to plastic bucket chairs some time ago — presumably so they could fit more in, and now they have resorted to wooden school chairs. And the music still at party volume. Unless you’re after a glass of wine or a snack, you’re almost better...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

If a 5pm-8pm flight isn’t a dinner, service, it should be. No-one who doesn’t live in a nursing home eats dinner before 5pm and very few in Australia eat after 8pm. By the time you pick up your luggage and get to your hotel, other dinner options will be very limited indeed.

PER-CBR. The braised lamb was gluggy with corn starch but the sides were very good and the service, excellent. I have put the 100g block of Koko black chocolate aside for later and am enjoying the Maggie Beer ice cream for dessert.

    Qantas domestic economy meals

QF2409 EMD-BNE at 1700 yesterday: savoury biscuits and dip with a wine service. QF760 BNE-TSV at 1935: warm chicken panini and beer/wine/softdrink. The flight crew came around and offered a second panini to anyone who wanted it -- good service. I could be misremembering, but I think the...

    Qantas lounge music

Is there a corporate policy regarding music and the volume of music in Qantas lounges? I ask because although in most lounges the music is set to a pleasant, low background level, in recent months the Townsville lounge has had the volume pumped up much louder. It’s not so loud that you can’t...

Article: The Unpublished Benefit of Paying for Preferred Seats

Yes -- this happened to me on a flight to Europe once. Those of us who had paid for exit-row seats were the only ones that didn't have a row to ourselves!

What could airlines do to convince you to choose a middle seat?

Double status credits or a 50% discount would do it for me. I might be willing to take a middle seat for a smaller discount if the flight were under 90 minutes. Certainly not for a small chance of a prize.

Best Qantas food experience I've had in a while on my recent Townsville-Brisbane-Canberra run. Pizza in the Townsville QC -- pretty good pizza, too. Hot chicken croquettes in Economy on QF755 TSV-BNE Shepherd's pie with mushy peas in Business QF1909 BNE-CBR

    Can’t change flex fare online?

Thank you all. Wait time was about 25 minutes, but they got it sorted out smoothly and with no fee.

    Can’t change flex fare online?

I have a flex (K) fare flight coming up in three weeks and I need to make a change to the date of travel. I booked it in mid August. This will be the first and only time I have changed it, but Qantas changed the originally booked itinerary for reasons of their own back in September (same dates...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

I deliberately avoided snacking in the lounge before the flight, as I prefer to eat at lunch time rather than before lunch, and I prefer to eat on the flight and work in the lounge while I have more space. No, they didn’t refuse requests for extra drinks (and I noticed some people did ask), but...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

I had the same experience on the Melbourne to Townsville service on Sunday. The flight was scheduled to board at 11:40 and arrive around 15:00, so anyone who didn’t know what to expect was relying on the food service to be lunch. All we got for lunch was a choc chunk cookie and a single beverage...

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

I also had a frustrating experience recently. I narrowly missed my Qantas luggage check in time and had to call to see whether I could change to a later flight (the check in staff weren’t able to do this for me as it was a rewards booking, but encouraged me to call and have me a priority number...

Jetstar suuuuuucks.... why don’t I learn???

This is why I don’t willingly fly Jetstar. In this case, I’d paid a fully flexible Qantas fare but ended up transferred to a Jetstar flight.

Jetstar suuuuuucks.... why don’t I learn???

It’s not the policy that I take issue with, but the service. Besides, it had been at least a decade since I last flew with Jetstar.

Jetstar suuuuuucks.... why don’t I learn???

I recently flew Jetstar after having sworn off them years ago. My Qantas flight was cancelled and the Jetstar flight was the only way to get where I was going without an overnight stopover. My experience was similar to many of those above -- good inflight service, poor ground service. I had a...

    Qantas Status Credits Boost

The first part isn't true. I had Gold status in March and had already accumulated enough credits to retain gold, so I did not get a 12 month extension. However, I have received the 50% status points boost and I am very happy with that!

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Choice.com.au recommends the Miele WTH130WPM, the Samsung WD75M4453JW BubbleWash (which is what I tried) and the Samsung WD85K6410OW. But they also say of washer-dryers "It seems like a great idea, but they can be expensive, more prone to break downs, and many of them take a very long time to...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

I have tried one in an apartment hotel. It did the job and was certainly very convenient, but apparently, they have low energy efficiency, so I am not tempted.
