Is it time for better airline boarding passes?

OT - AA's MD80s still have a sign down in the galley telling FAs not to smoke while preparing food.

Is it time for better airline boarding passes?

The boarding passes from the self-check-in at Perth were on paper similar to that paper from the credit card machines when you purchase goods, but had colours on it and looked like a normal boarding pass, the Jetstar ones are simply print outs stapled together. It works.

Is it time for better airline boarding passes?

I think his biggest beeef is that the boarding gate is not clear. But then this doesn't allow any last minute gate changes. Perhaps he has bad eyesight, as his other whinge is to have the information in big bold letters.

    considering this DONE 2010

It's about a 3 hour drive down the freeway, and an all-day drive along the scenic route. We drove down the scenic route, left about 10am got to the hotel about 6ish, then went to Petra the next day, left about 6ish, got back to the AMM hotel about 10ish. Just be aware that some drivers don't...

Not happy at QANTAS So called customer service

This is nonsense about baby formulae. I've travelled several times from LHR and LGW with a baby and made up formulaes in the bottles. You have to taste everything.

    qantas points

The Qantas website (once you log in) has a section where you can book frequent flyer flights. It's a good way of playing around to see what is available for what amount of points, without having to commit to buying. The FF center is the Qantas Frequent Flyer call center, but they'll charge you...

    New layout at PER

Not sure I follow this. There are the check-in lanes, you drop your luggage off, then walk at the front of the queues to get to the security. If you mean, having to negotiate others going from the queue to the desk, then yes, but it was the same in the previous set up.

AA booking not appearing in QF a/c or checkmytrip

I've had AA flights as part of a QF RTW appear on my QF "my bookings". They didn't appear until after I'd done the first international flight though.

BA Strike, what will it do to BA?

My understanding is that the judge granted the injunction based on 2 points: 1) that the ballot included staff who had accepted redundancy. While the union argued that this was a technical breach that had no materal impact on the outcome (800 votes wasn't going to sway the result), the judge...

    First time J - tips needed :)

My partner recently flew (2 weeks ago) on QF6 (FRA->SIN), and was in the first class section, although it was a J service. If it has changed, it is only recently. Also, from looking at the seating allocations, it looked like the first 4 rows were F seats - but I could be mistaken.

    First time J - tips needed :)

Maybe I should have been clearer. Given that it looks like some first seats (but no F service), I'd pick those than the upper deck (which I'm doing on my MEL->LHR QF29 in a few week's time). But normally I prefer the upper deck. Quieter (no passengers walking through all the time, especially...

    Baggage Tag System - Foolproof?

You would think... I caught a flight from LHR to HKG on QF, then changed (separate PNR) to a CX flight to PEN. I interlined my luggage all the way through, but the agent in London didn't know what the flight from HKG to PEN was (and neither did I), and she couldn't look it up on the system. I...

Any bad experiences travelling with a child's car seat?

We're travelled with a car seat extensively, and have had no issues with it so far. My biggest fear is it getting lost. When we had a smaller car seat (infant less than 1 year old), sometimes we were able to take it into the cabin (ie, we weren't stopped) except with JAL who said it had to be...

BA Strike, what will it do to BA?

People were asked to either work for a month free, or take the month off without pay. It was for either july or august, or around then. From memory, a lot of people took the second option, and only very senior managers I would assume took the first option (and probably felt they had no choice...

QF Domestic J Lounge - Dress Code

I usually wear jeans, trainers and a collared shirt, but sometimes just a T-shirt. Maybe it's because I'm from MEL, or maybe because I'm getting close to the wrong side of 40, but shorts have never really done it for me. I certainly am conscious of wearing anything too flimsy in case of an...

    Qantas arrrrgh...

AA make it clear in their in-flight magazine that these things happen, AA won't help you and to check your travel insurance for your options.

    QF/AY flight now CX/AY

Was this an AY flight that was code shared? They probably have the right to substitute the tin, as you're buying an AY + AY flight, not a QF + AY flight.
  19. D

    Qantas arrrrgh...

yes, but the point is that they're not guaranteeing to meet your connection if it is not on the same itinerary. From a contractual point of view, if your follow-on flights are on separate itineraries, then these are separate contracts; the first carrier is not bound by any subsequent contract...

    Qantas arrrrgh...

The biggest problem with expecting anything more than 75% reliability is that it will get exponentially more expensive the closer to 100% (eg, at worse, to give virtually 100%, airlines would need to schedule 2 aircraft for every flight, in case one goes unservicable). Unless everyone is...
