    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I had similar experience with limited options on upcoming MUC to SIN flight, it seems to be dependent on the port you are flying out from. When choosing for the SIN to SYD sector I then had a dizzying array of options to choose from including the Lobster 😋

Taking one for the team on AA to LAX from Sydney

After years of travel to the US I have become more relaxed about the tipping culture and I agree that earlier this year 20% seemed to be the norm but my opinion is this should be on the basis the waitstaff are expected to share out a portion of their tips to the kitchen staff. What I find...

    Scams like these

I haven't ordered too much online lately, however I did order and get two deliveries via Aus Post succesfully in the last 2 weeks. Coincidentally on the eve of both successful deliveries, out of the blue, I got text messages similar to the above about an incorrect postcode preventing delivery of...

    What cheeses me off

Yes as we found out when we complained about the smoke drift from one of our apartment neighbours smoking his cigar for an hour or so each early evening on his balcony (he has recently cut it down to only 3-4 nights a week). He obviously doesn't think it is anti social so there we are, we get to...

Excellent suggestion and obvious when I think about it, many thanks!

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

A satay question for the SQ regulars and apologies if you think it is a dopey one. I always feel the need for a spoon or fork (which annoyingly is not provided) to help with the process of enjoying all traces of the delicious sauce. What is the secret of your technique.... do you launch in with...

    Crew on take-off

This has reminded me of our recent UA flight from Den to Muc in J. As we are pulling back from the gate I hear a bit of a commotion from across the aisle. Look across and there is a gentleman in sleep mode with eye mask on, wrapped snugly in his blanket and seat fully reclined. Attendants are...

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

No I don't think it was that sophisticated, just the normal grey plastic trays

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

So a slightly unusual experience going through security at Munich last week. I am used to the usual high paced scrum of feverishly whipping out clothing, handbag, electronic gadgets with a mindset to not hold up the security staff or passengers behind unduly. I am behind a gentleman and watching...

    Ask The Pilot

Qantas have been giving one of their A380s a workout out of sydney today. Currently on its third takeoff of the afternoon and about to come into land again. I would be interested to know the likely reason for the multiple takeoff and departures over the past 3 hours, is it likely to be training...

    What cheeses me off

From my experience the cars to the right approaching the roundabout often seem to think they have right of way when they are in a convoy and as has been previously stated it is usually safest to just let them barrel blindly through at speed rather then have them slam into you because they didn't...

    What cheeses me off

And drivers who approach the roundabout from your right at high speed and plough straight through erroneously believing they have the right of way when you were clearly at the roundabout entrance first

    a330-200 seat

Can confirm that having flown B777-300 J seats on UA, Swiss and SQ earlier this year all had the same level of discomfit to varying degrees as you describe above. I am sure in the "olden" days I recall a more comfortable "lazy boy" seat experience on QF and VA international flights but I could...

    What cheeses me off

What cheeses me off (and gives me heart palpitations) is people who grab their supposedly "unique looking" bag off the airport luggage belt without checking whether it is actually theirs and blithely toddle off leaving you behind with their bag eventually coming through, complete with their...

28 Nights - 12 Countries - So Many Pictures - So Few Words

The tower with the westfield logo gives it away. The light show on the water looks OK but maybe not as spectacular as they used to have at this location up until 3 or so years ago....

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

I think you are right to persevere with insisting on sighting a copy of your e-ticket with the correct flight details. When we had a flight segment changed on a recent trip (not with Qantas) it resulted in a new e-ticket number so best for you to doublecheck what you are being told.

Pick a travel agent how ?

As mentioned by a poster in the "Great value RTW" thread I have also had good experiences with roundabout travel. Most recently used them this year for a trip with an LX RTW J fare. When we contracted Covid in Switzerland just before our return leg to Australia I was very happy I was able to...

AFF Review: Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class (SYD-SIN)

I know, we figure we can dine out on this one for a while to come, we were both shaking our heads when she came out with this doozy. Maybe the staff member normally services premium ec/economy and they charge those customers? As I say she did come back proactively with the "free" cappuccino...

    Ask The Pilot

Is it a frequent occurrence for there to be a delay in opening the aircraft door on arrival due to malfunction of the airbridge? We had to wait for more then 15 minutes last week in SYD at the gate (SQ241) for the door to be accessed. The pilot advised after the first 10 minutes or so of...
