Would you fly at a less convenient time to get a nicer plane?

I guess a Dash-8 has a random number of rows & a random number of seats per row, who knows, the people building them obviously just hammered & glued random bits of aluminium together.

    What's your golden travel rule?

I don’t need to work-up that amount of sheer unbridled rage in other locations!!! 😅

Would you fly at a less convenient time to get a nicer plane?

The ‘plane is normally a very good indicator towards how the seats’ll be arranged. Occasionally you can cop a replacement aircraft & be stymied!

Would you fly at a less convenient time to get a nicer plane?

I have to say yes, but maybe for slightly different reasons than those who’re in the air all the time and know that pretty soon they’ll have sampled all the aircraft operated locally to their airport-of-origin … but as an example, I had us on Jetstar SYD-MEL-HBA and return instead of the quicker...

    What's your golden travel rule?

Ask someone locally where to eat … even if that’s the concierge & I’m in Italy so the answer was likely bought before I asked it, it’s still worked out with a MUCH greater success-rate than sussing it out myself.

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

It’s the same with anything really … those shootings in the Lindt shop in Sydney, suddenly half the population was an expert on how to stop armed criminals with hostages. Israel - everyone’s an expert. Even that Fischer-Price Titanic-viewing sub.

    Brisbane Airbridge strikes again!

It’s not just Australia, look at who the Americans voted in as president in an election for which there’s only about a 33% chance of having been fraudulently won.

    Airfares to US to drop?

It makes one wonder whether or not the stuff I have to say around here about <the President> means I'm likely to be denied entry if I try, even though the person denying me entry is probably being disadvantaged by the aforementioned <person> ... ? A general AI search would likely turn this post...

    Airfares to US to drop?

    (a) Wow, MSN still exists, these a blast from the past! (b) I'm surprised 2.8% difference, up or (in this case) down, is outside the normal yearly variation just due to general randomness.

    Scams like these

I’d do the same. But … Telcos are all TERRIBLE for their customer service, should anything even slightly unusual happen. A mate of mine in the US spent 8hrs over the last couple of weeks on the ‘phone to Verizon renewing their service. I spent 3hrs on the ‘phone to Optus 6 months ago just...

    Airfares to US to drop?

Yep, agreed, the city basically IS the suburb, for an Australian address. The city doesn’t mean anything really … “the bigliest population centre which this location is connected-to by other suburbs” maybe?

    Scams like these

Problem is … that message was potentially sent to a bunch of random numbers, many of which aren’t anyone’s ‘phone number … and by replying you’ve confirmed that your number is real.

    Airfares to US to drop?

And what that actually means is another thing … my FIL had two passports, because he visited the USA but also Vietnam & Cambodia regularly, and the USA was very weird about Vietnam & Cambodia. So … Egypt is on the list, if your passport has an Egypt stamp in it and you’re female will Mr Trump...

    Scams like these

^ I’ve had those calls, as soon as they ask me for ID related info (as that’s always private) I tell them thanks very much and I’ll call back straight away. They always know why when it’s legit, and never have a problem with me doing that unless it’s a scam call.

Well hornswoggle the mains’l and yee-aargh the first mate me hearties! Ever since I heard “and it’s seven forty-seven, the Boeing time-call” on morning radio I’ve associated 7:07, 7:17, 7:27, 7:37, 7:47 and 7:57 with Boeings. :) As for my username … needed a name like Thrug, Grug or similar...

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

My sister lived in London for ... I guess 5-6 years, from her mid 20's. The first place she worked was in an office environment with another couple of dozen similarly-aged financial-services professionals who all behaved much the same as she'd worked-with & had drinks after work with in Sydney...

^ It's also worth underlining that China Airlines is not a Communist Party airline, they're Taiwanese, you don't share the cabin with chickens or pigs or whatnot like you do on Air China / China Eastern / etc (and similarly Clyde probably isn't flying the plane & the engines on the A350 haven't...
