Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

For what it's worth, I've done LHR-CAI a couple of times and it's not particularly nice in BA eurobizconomy. Recliner J seats in RJ would definitely be preferable. AT would be cool too. If you're booking cash flights to connect through CAI, make sure you give plenty of time (or a few days) to...

Slow Processing of Inbound PAX at SYD T1

Global entry is an example of how good/easy this process can be made. Funny that the alternative in the US is usually at least a 30 minute wait (or a whole lot more) in the pleb queue. To be honest though, I’d rather not import “pay to avoid queue” systems like GE, precheck, clear etc. (not that...

US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

Yes. Go through GE, use the face recognition and then have to present my AU passport and E3 to the CBP person at the desk (rather than just walking out).

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Has anyone made ATO payments with a US card, with points received without issue? Appreciate there is a 1.99% fee for MC and Visa and ~1.5% for Amex but interested as I am anticipating a big HELP levy at the end of the year and could use it for Chase SUBs when I get back under 5/24.

Correct. Pretty much every type of material change has to be done in-person, but I've just waited until the next time I'm going through CBP.

IME it's possible to use GE benefits from a UK passport and enter on your AU passport and visa. The issue is that I think you need a visa/Esta in the UK passport to actually register it under GE when entering the USA using enrollment on arrival or at an enrollment centre. After it's registered...

Best Program to Credit Aegean Flights?

Have you thought about crediting to Agean itself? I think it's a competitive program for S*, and easier to earn status for than others. I'm almost at S* Gold from one BR flight in Y+ SIN-TPE-LAX, a short trip in Y from CAI-ATH-LCA-ATH-CAI on A3 and a J flight on OS from CAI-VIE-LAX.

AFF Review: British Airways 787 Club World (SIN-SYD)

Ahh, I saw the seat plan on Aerolopa but it looks like it's been made before it actually rolls out.

AFF Review: British Airways 787 Club World (SIN-SYD)

I'm surprised BA don't already use the -8s and -10s which already have Club Suites on BA15/16. They're in a very small minority not running 1-2-1 on SYD-X-LHR, right? Doesn't seem competitive at all. Even AI has fewer seats per row in J on their -8s.

    Lounge access while transitting

While individual airline policies vary (AA in the US), OW lounge access based on booking class or status is on on departure only. No access on arrival.

At LAX you don't even scan your passport, it's all done through face recognition. If you have to see a CBP person then you give them your PP.

The entry record only includes the document you entered on, so while I've got GE through my UK passport, I have no I-94 records when I search with my UK passport (which I've never entered on). I only get results when searching with my AU passport. If you're on an E-3 visa and working in the US...

    VISA Waiver Program to USA

Sorry, that sucks. AFAIK, expedited interviews only happen with genuine extenuating circumstances (not "I already booked flights"). For my previous (E3) visa appointment, I wasn't able to see anything for 5 or 6 months, but they released a whole week or so of availability in Sydney a few weeks...

Amex Platinum - no longer worth it?

Looking from the US, where the card ($695?) is already pretty low on my "might eventually apply for" list, it's behind Capital One and Chase (where the Sapphire Reserve gets you Priority Pass + PP restaurant credits for $550). Cant imagine stumping up $1.45k AUD for it... whatever the SUB...

Inconsistent/Poor QF Business Class Treatment out of Bangkok

Well we only have to endure this until March, when AY will sprit everyone away, on a 330, still crewed, catered and "entertained" by QF. If QF is consistently bad, don't fly them. I think TG fly 1-2-1 J on the route (maybe 1-2-1 F?). XJ fly it 4x a week too (albeit 2-2-2).

Qantas A220 to do trips to Asia opening new opportunities (rumor)

Yeah, I think I mentioned up-thread, but I've done BOS-AUS on the 220 a few times, which is slated at ~4h. Absolutely fine in US F/J. In Y+extra legroom it's alright. Significantly better than 737/320 however you dice it. I got rerouted BOS-MSP-AUS with a 220 on the second leg, and I think...
