Seems to scrape in at #10: Huff Post Conde Nast worlds fanciest airline lounges

Notable for me:

* No mention of EK at Dubai
* 3 of the 10 in the USA, including 2 at JFK
* Air France UM Transit Lounge ??? Anyone used this??
* Wonder if BA Concord Room at LHR was ranked before they changed caterers?

Looking forward to using #7, Finnair non Schengen lounge at HEL, next week :)

We're very proud of our First Lounges. Thanks for bringing this article to my attention. Please keep in touch about your experience at HEL. :)

As with all articles like this, it's usually focused on a market that's a very specific part of the world, and not worldwide (even though it really should be so broad as to include any and every). I haven't visited that many since becoming Platinum, and visited a few as a youth, but the food in the SYD F lounge has always been the best I've had in a lounge, same with the wines and champagnes. I'm sure that wont match other experiences, but I'm yet to see an article really tackle the best features of the best lounges... and more importantly, that you can get an a la carte meal in SYD if you're travelling Y, but that's not always the same elsewhere.

Are they in rank order, or just 10 irrespective of order?

And it's not even 10 lounges - it's 9, with the "10th slide" being a gateway to the other galleries.

I haven't seen the new Delta Sky Club JFK, but unless it has a spa and food to order (or a very, very good buffet), I doubt it would rank at #1, and certainly some lounges in the same collective there will beat it (read: even the VS Clubhouse JFK).

I wonder what the difference is, and which is better, between the VS Clubhouses of JFK and LHR.

The Singapore KrisFlyer Gold Lounge at # < 10 in the world? Are you kidding me? I suppose if they are going for the nicest view, then sure, that lounge beats SQ's SilverKris Lounges. Apart from that, I'd rather be in the SilverKris Lounge (even the J area) than the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. Certainly, I find it very hard to not say someone has rocks in their head or a vastly biased view if they rank the SQ KrisFlyer Gold Lounge over the QF F Lounge in SYD, even if it is based purely on ambience and view.

Also, I think only one of those lounges in the nine given may offer cuisine cooked by a Michelin starred chef. So much for the rest of them.

Note they say 'fanciest'. Not best. Not 'good'. Nothing is really assessed apart from a small subset of aesthetics.

HEL wouldn't even rank in my top 20 lounges I've been in...

I do prefer the MEL F Lounge over the SYD F Lounge. They are both very good but the smaller size of the MEL F Lounge makes it more personal IMHO. :)

As do I; although being more rectangular/boxy than the Sydney lounge it is certainly not as "fancy".

Maybe not but the the AY lounges certainly have some style. Then again the FJ NAN lounge has a style, but I wouldn't rave too much about wicker furniture...

Another vote for the MEL F lounge here.

I have not had the pleasure and do look forward to a JQ run in January ;)

I can't understand why the EY F lounge in AUH isn't on the list. And as for SQ KrisFlyer Gold being there and MEL F absent, well, where do I go with that?

CCR scrapes through on the fancy stakes - certainly does not on the service front!

Grain of salt stuff really. I mean to say they have added a lounge that hasn't even opened yet, and as someone else mention the presence of the SQ lounge, you gotta be kidding me.

However the Brisbane First Lounge isn't feeling very loved... :(

I think you're opening a can of worms there.

Personally, without F services the BNE and AKL F lounges are adequate. I have a soft spot for their quaintness. However I understand the BNE one particularly can get easily crowded but have yet to witness it myself. Maybe now with EK lounge access this will be less of an issue.

I would like to imagine an eventual increase in BNE services would warrant investment and using that (vacant?) upstairs area above the lounge. But realistically the numbers may never work out.

In the short term improving the soft product (e.g. food options) and maybe adding a staff member to 'run' the F lounge areas would increase their perceived quality significantly.

Also have issue with the article including the LAX TBIT Star Lounge, which is still yet to open !

I don't like to call it a "First Lounge" in Brisbane, Red Roo.

I prefer just to call it a "First Area"...needless to say, there's a lot that needs to be done before it deserves to be called a "First Lounge"

And rightly so, it struggles to handle the morning crowd while those lucky to have a window get to watch the car park, while eating cold food that should at least be warm.
