Maybe Red Roo can help with this one. I've just done a major clean out of my 'travel debris' drawer and the amount of foreign coinage (and note-age) I found is embarrassingly large and many of the countries I have no plans to re-visit. I'd love to put it in (several) UNICEF envelopes on a QFi flight, but my next QF flight of any sort will be inbound to Australia in about a month. Obviously I don't want to carry the haul around with me overseas until that time.

Is there a way to put the stuff into the QF UNICEF program on the ground, such as in Hobart? I dare say there are others on AFF who are in the same boat.

I've found most airports (at least here in AU) have donation bins for money in any currency. So next trip simply take the money with you and place it into the donation bins. I'm not sure which charities they go to (as there is often a few of them) but in any case your money would be doing good.

Travel debris for some, treasure for others! What a lovely thought, and one that will appreciated by many. :)

As suggested by harvyk, UNICEF have "Change for Good" collection bins at several Australian airport terminals in addition to having envelopes on board Qantas flights.

Please see this link for a list of terminals where you can deposit your donation...and yes, Hobart is one of the participating terminals.

Thanks in advance for your contribution.

Jolly good - thanks. Everything from Lats to Roubles onto Fiji$, Euro and Swedish Kroner and much more heading to HBA soon. :)

I often wonder if putting a Change for Good envelope on the breakfast (or last service) tray, rather than in the headphones pack may get a bit better response. A number of times I have intended to do it, but the envelope has made it to the bottom of my in flight junk pile by the time the CSM suddenly appears with his plastic collection bag. Nothing that can't be solved by better organization on my part of course ....

Here's the tally:

I'm afraid the 1,000 Bolivars won't disturb the scorers too much, but a leavening with Good British Money should help a bit.

Cheers for the link Red Roo! Does the bin at Coolangatta exist? I don't remember seeing it the last time I flew from there... I'll be passing through there soon and I don't want to carry around currency that I don't need :)

It should do, however I'm sure the friendly ground staff would be happy to point you in the right direction if you can't find it. :)
