Jetstar Boeing 787 refurbishment adding more Business Class seats

MEL/SIN definitely has significant premium capacity across all carriers, Jetstar would be the last on the ladder so I’d expect some good deals and upgrade offers, 40 odd seats is probably a bit heavy for them on that route.

I’m still expecting them to drop this route eventually, being pulled back later this year initially.

It's not competing with SQ or QF J products, but definitely comparable to SQ's PE product, for half the price. And a QF codeshare in PE to connect with QF1/2, given that usually no PE cabin out of MEL on QF on the route. (that's if it were a reliable service, which it is not, historically).

If it had slightly lower fares than currently (which it may with the extra 20 seats), could do well, it would be superior to either SQ or QF economy for similar price . At the moment, I tend to ScootPlus though, whilst the F&B offering on Jetstar is much better, it's not $100 better unless planning to consume heaps of alcohol.

But agree overall the aircraft is probably too big for the route, especially with the Scoot competition.
