Jetstar Boeing 787 refurbishment adding more Business Class seats

MEL/SIN definitely has significant premium capacity across all carriers, Jetstar would be the last on the ladder so I’d expect some good deals and upgrade offers, 40 odd seats is probably a bit heavy for them on that route.

I’m still expecting them to drop this route eventually, being pulled back later this year initially.

might be one for the A321XLR fleet

It's not competing with SQ or QF J products, but definitely comparable to SQ's PE product, for half the price. And a QF codeshare in PE to connect with QF1/2, given that usually no PE cabin out of MEL on QF on the route. (that's if it were a reliable service, which it is not, historically).

If it had slightly lower fares than currently (which it may with the extra 20 seats), could do well, it would be superior to either SQ or QF economy for similar price . At the moment, I tend to ScootPlus though, whilst the F&B offering on Jetstar is much better, it's not $100 better unless planning to consume heaps of alcohol.

But agree overall the aircraft is probably too big for the route, especially with the Scoot competition.

Read that.

The new legrests look a real improvement.

I differ in the ‘best seat’ advice.

At 6’3 I’ve never had a problem with my legs being ‘wedged’ in at the bulkhead. And in fact after the meal, popping a full-sized rolla-board on the floor in front of you gives you a fully horizontal leg rest, making sleep a real possibility. Plus the recline is very generous… row 1 has no one reclining into you and the person next to you can access the aisle without you having to wake up or stand up.

Suspect it depends how you typically sit.

Agree with you that I prefer the extra arm room in not having someone in front of me recline.

Really appreciated the review. Looking forward for all the 787s to be back in service so the MEL-SIN route will hopefully stop getting cancelled.

Honestly the meal doesn’t look too dissimilar to what we would get on QF Domestic and TT J.

I also can’t recall the last time I’ve used the IFE to watch anything other than the flight map. Good changes overall.

JQ7/8 will probably go A321XLR if they keep offering upgrades etc for the 787, likely to big of an investment for such a route, definitely screams low yield.

A321XLR at least they might be able to go daily.

I think it is just that… domestic J class catering (same as QFi PEY)

I am actually a bit sceptical on whether JQ will receive A321XLRs. I somewhat thinking if some long haul QF XLRs will come from JQ's order because yield will be higher on QF as opposed to JQ, and JQ could potentially survive with LR only?
