I notice SriLankan Airlines is adding a second flight from Melbourne to Colombo in August, running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So, it will have 10x weekly MEL-CMB flights. The new flight connects really nicely to UL's CMB-LHR services.

I'm seeing lots of J availability (at least for 1 passenger) on the new MEL-CMB flights. Not so much on CMB-LHR, but you might get lucky.

On a purely selfish basis I wish they would do something like a bi-weekly flight to Perth. I am sure it would probably not be of value to the airline but it would make a nice easy way for us to track down some my wife's roots amongst the Dutch & French employees of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (Dutch East India Company) who lived there in the mid 17th to late 19th C.

Sri Lankan still have many NEOs not flying so sadly likely not anytime soon.

Jetstar could run this with a 321LR? They seemed to opt for Thailand routes instead.

SriLanka and India are two underserved markets I think from Australia.

Even if QF slapped their code on the UL flights that could help expand the service. At the moment, to fly SYD-CMB on a QF code is a UL codeshare ex SIN, CX codeshare ex HKG or 6E codeshare ex BLR (from what I can see)?

Pity CMB is probably a tad too far west to maybe help replace some the 3K destinations if QF (or JQ) put on some direct flights.

Looking at the regional map, not a lot of healthy regional options to fly onto via CMB…other than India, but that’s covered by 6E.

I was looking at these availabilities, as we are planning a trip to Norway for next year. This time with a 5 year old and a lap infant. There are many days with 5 business class seats available, but I'm curious whether their A330s have lie flat seats or not. I'm assuming they do.

Has anyone here flown this route? The route would be perfect for us, pretty easy to get to OSL from CDG

UL A330s J are lie flat seats - both the variants.

Yep. I quite like the product.

And Australia/France get the A330-300s with the better seats. The only minor issue I had was that the seat was a tad firm.
