Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I have a J ticket on EY, MNL-AUH-MXP for 3 weeks time. I don't expect to fly (the flights likely will be cancelled), but I do expect a full refund from Etihad.

That being the case, I'll go to Thailand instead (perhaps I should've booked that in the first place). BKK and CNX, with a little Pattaya thrown in for good measure.

This skirmish with Iran will likely hurt the ME3 cashflow for some time, going forward.
 
Accomodation in Melbourne for the rest of this week and into next is super pricey due to F1, certainly feel for those poor people who are stuck.

Melbourne also seems to have the most crew stuck with 10 aircraft currently parked. That’s a lot of hotel rooms!

Although if financially a problem and happy to go beyond central Melbourne (even take Vline to Geelong, Ballarat etc), hotels are considerably cheaper than centre of Melbourne, even if you throw in $11/day for transport.
 
I see that Saudi space has been open, why don't UAE and Qatar route immediately to and from Saudi air space, which is more buffered by air defences as its further away?

It would take minutes for all aircraft to fly over there.

Looks like Abu Dhabi is trying their luck already. First that LH flight, now this A380 beauty to London readiing for take off.

If you go onto the departures website of Abu Dhabi airport, you see that quite a handful check-in is open.
 
EK and EY both renewed their suspensions for another 24 hours (next update tomorrow evening our time)
 
Yea- might be. It’s just that AUH looks suddenly quite busy while pretty much nothing at DOH or DXB yet…
