AMEX rejection

Why do you assume it is adverse entries regarding defaults? I can tell you it is 100% churning. The information they are basing it on is from your credit report (where else would they get it from). I think that is consistent which what they are saying.

What exactly do you want them to else to tell you? Are you not intending to cancel this card before the next annual fee? You think they should have to approve that?
Agree - when I got my (now long binned) letter a few weeks ago, it was phrased fairly generically (something like 'we couldn't approve you based on your credit file').

In my case, I had a stack of enquiries in 2024 from churning and a couple of closures in 2025 so am patiently waiting for the 2024 enquiries to drop off before applying again.

I'd suggest that, if wanting to play 'the game', Amex is no longer a viable contender...
