Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates.

Unlikely. QF will want to do more in SYD prior to in service I am certain.
It is hard to be sure because of the angle, but I think that it is OA that is sitting down at about gate 9 or possibly just past there.

OQD is scheduled for QF1.
Can confirm that is correct as I've just boarded OQD, OQA is sitting a couple of gates along. Commencement of boarding of QF1 was delayed about 30 minutes as OQD had been basking in the sun for too long and was far to hot inside to let anyone onboard so they had to cool it down first - not sure if they succeeded to be honest but it should help me acclimate to Egypt quicker :)

Two Captains and two F.O.'s up the front by the sounds of it. Departing 35 minutes behind schedule, and lady next to me booked a 70 minute connection in Singapore to KLM -

Got to the end of the runway and then something happened and we pulled off the runway and are currently stopped facing the wrong way down the parallel taxiway... OQA might get a run today yet ..
OQD has a bung APU - that was the initial cause of our delay apparently, and then we sat at the hold point at the runway for a few minutes waiting for aircraft to land, and then when the engines spooled up to get us moving a passenger on the starboard side saw some black smoke leave an engine and alerted a crew member and that is why we exited the runway again very promptly. Eventually it was deemed that all was well and after the grand tour of SYD's taxiways we got back to the runway and took off.

One needs to come back soon. Currently 4 A380s in AUH leaving only 6 active.
OQA - Since 18 Nov 2023 awaiting return to service
OQC - Since June 2021 awaiting return to service
OQK - Since 24 Feb 2024 possible gear change
OQL - Since 13 Mar 2024 likely cabin refit

Apols if it was addressed up-thread, but why has OQC (and I think until recently, OQA) been in Abu Dhabi for so long? Surely not just others paying more for priority .... over years, when QF is so short of aircraft?

Last October view. Wonder how leaving them out in the Gulf heat and humidity for a couple of years will affect things?

Having stepped off a Qantas A380 in Singapore then onto a Emirates A380 I've got to say that I'm kinda cofunsed as to why Qantas even bothered - the Emirates A380 Y product is far far better - and this was one of the A380's that Emirates hasn't upgraded to their new layout yet.
