That's been happening for a while. There are no additional benefits that I'm aware but if you're not shy yiu can always ask.

They go through the passenger manifest and write down anyone that is Platinum and above. Think there is a separate list for each side of the plane. On Sunday night SYD-BNE the were only 3 names on the list I saw and from memory that was 4D, 6D and 6F.

Agree. As you say, it’s no excuse for catering and not offering a product as advertised.

Travelled QF435 recently. Gold FF complaining to the CSM he didn’t get a seat before the emergency exit, “as he is entitled to as a gold FF.” CSM apologised as she has 41 platinum members on board.

As above, this is entirely crew dependent. I've had some great crews on my 5pm SYD-MEL vv who offer wine from J etc. When its a flow forwarding afternoom and you move ahead my expectations are zero. I tend to find service in Y on 737 far superior but do like the 330 aircraft.

I've had wine offered when in row 4 even on MEL-ADL when J was full with 12 pax. Very impressed with the CSM that he had time to do that.

I had one recently when I was in row 6 welcoming me and apologising because I was so far back

Wow. Maybe they thought you were CL or something?

You'd think their list is reliable but they can get it wrong. I was once flying (in F) and was warmly welcomed as a P1 by the CSM when I was a mere WP.

Ultimately I believe the crew tend to put a lot less stock on status levels than us AFFers.

slight digression, but on QF163 last thursday the crew gave had gotten to approx row 15 in service, then rolled back down to stock up and mysteriously gave row 30 meals then resumed service from row 15 again. Maybe I was seated in front of CLs ? haha

Pure speculation on my part but my guess is row 30 served while the trolley (or 2nd half of it) was being re-loaded.

Doesn't excuse the lack of catering, but there is a chance everyone in front of MrP was WP or better.
Though we have missed our choice when 6 of the J cabin were staff in uniform.Mrsdrron is WP.

I believe the service standard in J should be that CL/P1 are offered the full range of choice. Platinum in 3F? You get the soup or cheese.
I believe the food service in J should be that everyone gets a meal appropriate to dinner service and not a salad, regardless of status.

That is just like boarding QF28 in Santiago - there is always huge queues for boarding, and EVERY SINGLE TIME there are "special people" that are confused trying to find the priority boarding queue - because it is so long they do not believe that it must be theirs. And every single time the staff have to explain to disgruntled DYKWIA types that it is a BIG plane, and there are many priority people. (For the record, there are 96 elite seats in J or PE, and when you add any status pax in Y, there is usually over 150 pax in the "priority" queue :)

Are there some sort of allowances that are made that I'm not aware of?
Somewhere on another forum I just read, a WP referred to getting a wine glass made of glass rather than plastic when in Y.

When I came home from Honolulu in Sept I was in the last row in economy.
One of the FAs came up welcomed me back asked if I needed a coat stored
I don't think any thing else special happen?
I am platinum

If I'm in row 4 or 5 (on a 737) and the Y service starts (usually well) before the J service, the Y attendant will get me my choice of drink from the J cabin (be it wine, scotch or juice) and in a proper glass. It's a nice touch.

Pooch do you not read BP's? Status is clearly shown under "Service Information" eg FF PLAT ONE EMERALD QFxx_x" or "FF SILVER RUBY" or whatever. Same info is on the gate reader generated slips, and on the mobile BPs

and it is rare, but in J status has been taken into account re meal choices by some (few) CSM's. Just a few weeks ago I was approached .. bein gin row 3(which I'd selected) and offered the choice first as the CSM wanted to make sure I had a selection from all options as a P1. Doesn't happen often in my experience, but does happen at least that I've either noticed or experienced personally.
