Wine lovers musings, amusings and news

I was reading an online article just now and came across thes:

“The range of fruit flavours in the wine is largely influenced by the vintage and winemaker, covering cassis, blackcurrant, redcurrant, blackberry and mulberry when the wine is young.”

Is cassis and black currant not the same?

I would put England on the list based on my November trip discovering what all the fuss was about English Sparkling Wine. The English countryside is beautiful and the vineyard visits were really well done. Definitely recommended. I'll post a report here soon when I've written it.

Here's a taste of one of my wine articles on one of the vineyards I visited that was published in the UK as a foretaster:

A Hambledon Homecoming | Great British Wine

With a few more pics here on my blog here:

A Hambledon Homecoming

We're in Thailand at the moment. Sadly, nowhere near the wineries.

Thanks for posting Steady. Hopefully I'll see you in Tassie next month when I'm over. I'll PM you when I'm back at the end of January.

I hope you went to the Bat and Ball pub at Hambledon

The Bat & Ball Inn near Clanfield, Hampshire, England, is an historic eighteenth century pub situated opposite the Broadhalfpenny Down cricket ground, the original home of the Hambledon Club. It is traditionally, though erroneously, called "the cradle of cricket". The pub is currently owned by Fuller's and is a former George Gale and Co Ltd Pub.

If I knew how to upload a photo from my mobile on this tricky new site, I'd show a shot of me sipping English Breakfast at the very pub! Hoping I've done it - not sure.

I knew I was in a special place (happened on by chance as I was hungry before my media visit to Hambledon Vineyard) when I spotted the Green Baggy in a cabinet. It's the first thing I saw as we entered the pub.

Small world! Good food too. The walls have so much cricket history plastered over them.
