The AFFers have spoken and ADL it is for the next AFF meet.

I shall be organising this one, but of course any help would be greatly appreciated as not being from Adelaide there's sure to be a few places I may miss.

Let us make this as good as MEL, if not better!!

I am almost certain as a starter. Can confirm within a week or so.

Can I start the ball rolling and nominate Mapo Korean Restaurant as a candidate for dinner one night. Four of us ate there (in the a la carte section rather than the barbecue section) at Easter and my meal was excellent, and I know the others thoroughly enjoyed their selections.

Can someone consult their magic crystal balls and advise if I ought to book a ticket now (most likely QF) or if I should look out for an impending sale. Thanks. :)

Shows how little domestic flying I do...

And as I know nothing about Adelaide apart from 6 hrs spent at Adelaide Uni and having some friends from there, I will have to gracefully take a backseat from the coordinating of this one unlike AFF Gathers 1. More than happy to help where i can though. :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm going to hang out for a sale. There's one on that finishes toninght for MEL-ADL on QF for $85, but is for early Sept.

As indicated, I've made a flex booking for Hilton ADL at A$220, minus commissions. Will change it to adv purch when the trip is v imminent.

What about Friday? Something in the late arvo/evening maybe.
The dinner and drinks thing works, unless other people have better suggestions. :)

I'll have to leave that to you to organise, I don't land till 22:40 ;)

Anyone who knows a thing or 2 about Adelaide, plz feel free to chime in. :)

I managed to snag $199 each way on QF, for a boring old PER-ADL-PER!

Looking at the airfares for that weekend just now, I could be on a DJ Go! fare. Will keep an eye on things for a little while....

Glenelg is a nice area - I stay there whenever I'm in ADL at the Stamford Grand. I am usually paying less than $200 for a ocean view and less than $175 for a city view (which is ok for me always being alone).

The Stamford Grand

The choice of resturants is kinda limited in Glenelg central however, there is a small cosy Itallian there which is devine! (and well priced) and there are a couple of good watering holes on the main street which seem to go off (!) after about 10pm...

The Stamford has a nice piano bar which looks out at the ocean and has an excellent resturant on site - the seafood platter is worth every cent!!!

The tram from town runs to and fro Glenelg and a taxi costs about $20

The Holdfast Marina - about 5 to 10 minutes walk depending on "consumption" has about 10 or so resturants with the Peir hotel having live bands (as opposed to dead ones?)

I believe there are serviced apartments etc in the area and other hotels, but I only stay at the grand so can't comment...

<EDIT> just looked on Wotif - there's quite a few hotels in Glenelg - I am surprised!

I'm surprised too, although it's been a year or three since I was last in the area.

AFAIK, there's at least a dozen restaurants/eating places within a five minute walk from the Grand!

I presume the Italian restaurant is the one near the tram terminus (South Side).

I sould have clarified - limited to suit my likes and dislikes :) ...Sorry  - mind you, I did say Central Glenelg i.e the main street :)

Italian - Yes - on the side street on the left walking away from the terminus...

Mr!

The stars have aligned for this wonderful event.

The Australia vs New Zealand cricket test series is in Adelaide for that weekend.

I am there. :D

Fantastic. When do tickets go on sale? And will there be play on Sunday? ;)
