Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Less co-pay than on the minimum 36K?
Has he done a red eye before ? It's kind of like working a night shift with red wine ;)

It's his son PF. Cove is obviously punishing him for being a very naughty boy (a bit like Brian if you're in to Monty Python...) - while son is thinking he's getting a good deal :p. As a parent of cove's vintage, I say smart move, cove .

Cove and I understand how Gen Y's need to be treated; you're too soft on your Millennials PF :mrgreen::mrgreen:.

No co-pay as he is saving for his trip to North and South America.
He will work in the day until about 7pm then get out to the QF lounge without a rush.
Both my sons can do the red eye without any issues but the olds are completely zonked by doing it so we avoid it totally.
Both can sleep on a plane and the eldest can sleep well in Y on the red eye.
He used his own points and he lives in the land of plenty in points world.

fantastic result. And although I think there is more success with asking for U (for uniform) class it's still no guarantee

As long as you don't get Erica (who's been there for 15 years). According to her, there is no such thing as U Class, and mentioning Right on Q is a breach of confidential terminology and a reportable offence!

Hmmm - still getting over the Erica experience, I see ;). Scarred for life - glad I didn't get her :p.

I got told to call it a Marginal Any Seat as I was told first up to book it online so that is when she had to put me on hold for a few minutes. Great result that was worth the 15 minute call/wait so I am not scarred for life but I still wish I could do it on line.

In my mind, Erica could look like the infamous ANZ's Barbara with her speech through gritted teeth and an uncaring attitude to boot

Yes, well, you've just described my concerns with the process. The "I've-been-working-here-20-years-and-know-how-to-do-my-job-and-don't-need-you-to-tell-me-an-internal-RoQ-7740-policy-number" agent at the Premium desk assured me they knew how to book this properly. Fingers-crossed it all goes swimmingly. Might drop a PM to Red Roo.

When did actual points & SC earning kick in for JASA's - 2009?

Say it was 5 years ago, I don't then see the relevance of someone who has worked at a company 20 years when for the first 15 of them the product you want didn't even exist.

Sometimes you get better results with soneone who has only been with a company a short time & demonstrates a willingness to learn something they haven't done before vs someone that's too bogged down with what used to happen.

all true

I wonder though if the point of this was something like I have encountered: "I have worked here for xx years and of course you are stupid and I know what I am talking about.....the thing that you request does not exist/can be booked on line"?

Wow! Hope red roo is reading....fell off my chair again....because the operator rang me back! To apologise! She chatted to a colleague after our call, and realised her mistake. Quoted 60,000 and 475Aud. (Sin-Syd-Bne).

I have the lady's name and location if red roo wants to give her kudos. I was also told, next time, to ask for an any seat award in Uniform class 'U'. Awesome.

Thanks for sharing this experience. I would appreciate the details if you could send them to me in a private message. :)

I think the special phone number (1300 366 587) might have been retired... the number still works, but I don't seem to get through to the "premium desk" initially..

Has everyone who used the DSC offer in December/January received their DSCs ? Mine still haven't appeared from flights taken on 28 & 29 of January.

I would suggest you call as depending when you booked they may not have registered for DSC as the clock used in the system is different to that used here in Australia. It caused me some issues but a simple phone call soon resolved that.

G'day everyone!

It has been made very clear that booking an xASA does not require payment of a service feee because there is no way to do it online.

I was supposed to fly out on my EU troops today but I had to rebook my rip yesterday due to my mum having a heart scare earlier in the week and the Specialist only telling us Wednesday she would be in until middle of next week.

The CSA charged me $90 phone fee, plus the $150 rebooking fee that I was expecting.

As I could not rebook it without phone assistance should I be charged the $90?

Thanks for your opinions :)
