Rising from my seat in Row 5 last night on the 463, retrieved my carry-on from the bin only to find my jacket had disappeared. The CSM did a great job of finding a replacement (unfortunately, I've grown fond of my own) from the bin in front and whilst she was away looking for another, the perpetrator appeared back down the air-bridge with mine.

Frankly, I'm amazed this doesn't happen more frequently and am will now be doubly vigilant in placing my wallet in my carry-on (as it was last night).

But I'm intrigued, given this was Emerald City, was the light-fingered culprit one of AFF's finest??

Regards,

BD

Sounds like it was accidentally taken by another pax who, when they realised they had the wrong jacket returned to the plane.

Never leave wallet (or anything in jacket)...
Always put boarding pass in inside pocket.

Both QF and VA also suffer from people in Y self-jacketting into the cabinet/stowage area (easier on QF frankly).
I do actually like the window seat as I can hang my jacket on the seat in front when in Y

Yes, sorry hvr, was trying to inject a little humour in my post.

Why would put your wallet in your carry-on? What is wrong with your pocket?

Over the years many jackets that were not mine have been delivered to me by FAs just before landing.

That's always seemed out of place to me. I know everyone stands up when you get to the gate so moving around isn't necessarily easy, but there's generally a little time spent waiting and I don't see why jackets couldn't be given back then. As it is, you get it back at top of descent when you're still doing things and it's in the way... which is precisely the reason you had it taken away :p

Wasn't me. I didn't do it. It was him over there :-)

Totally agreed - it is not unheard of carry-on being rummaged by thieves during flights.

I seem to possess an incredible number of cards, couple with pants which continually shrink: it's simply too uncomfortable to keep my wallet in my pocket...that's why jackets were invented!!

A bad habit to put my wallet in the carry-on, I know, but the possibility of it being rummaged on a SYD-MEL or MEL- ADL in a crammed Y are a lot slimmer than me!!
