Suspension of QFs codeshare with Brindabella Airlines (now grounded)

On all my BNE-CFS flights, even those with FQ numbers, check-in was always with Qantas and (I think?) received Qantas BP for the lounge. Access was granted on FQ marketed flights that way. Either that or they accepted the FQ BPs. My memory is a bit hazy on that, but either way, access was no problem!

Presumably Brindabella will have to set up their own check-in now so lounge access *might* disappear. Will find out early next year. Interested to know anyone else's experience before then.

I've been refused lounge access previously at the (now defunct) T2 QP with an FQ ( and also OT) BP. Only admitted on presentation of a connecting QF int BP and WP card.
I think it's a YMMV thing.
I don't believe they will change any of the check-in arrangements for the short term of the codeshare suspension reported by the OP as 23-29th Nov inc

PX is fine, you'd be surprised how much of PX is actually Aussies & Kiwis who have got jack of QF/NZ/DJ/EK/EY and wanted something a little more simple and close to home. They actually use Australian Aviation up in BNE for a lot of their training from memory.

You would be surprised who actually does use Aus for basic traing. Good place to learn!

Brindallbella Airlines Grounded

AVIATION authorities have grounded the fleet of a regional NSW airline after discovering it didn't follow correct maintenance procedures.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) grounded four of Brindabella Airline's Jetstream aircraft in November and on Thursday ordered the company's remaining six planes pulled from service so they could be assessed.
Brindabella last month reported to CASA several planes had been "over run" for about a year, meaning they hadn't been checked or had parts replaced according to strict schedules set by manufacturers.
"That schedule of maintenance is designed to make sure that important maintenance is done at the right time, parts are replaced before they wear out and inspections are done on components and areas of the aircraft," CASA spokesman Peter Gibson told AAP.
Two of the aircraft initially taken for maintenance review have since been assessed by CASA and cleared to fly.
After the first series of inspections, CASA took a closer look at the fleet.
"That has led us to find there have been over runs in other maintenance requirements on other aircraft," Mr Gibson said.
A review of all maintenance during the past year will now be conducted by Brindabella, who must then demonstrate to CASA that their planes have been serviced according to schedule before being allowed in the air again.
"(We want) to make sure that everything in terms of maintenance that should have been done to those aircraft over the past 12 months has been done," Mr Gibson said.
Brindabella Airlines operates out of several regional areas including Moree, Narrabri, Tamworth and Newcastle, CASA said.

Re: Brindallbella Airlines Grounded

Wasn't too long ago that QF stopped codesharing with them.
Barnaby is going to have to do something!

Brindabella have temporarily shut up shop, I have a feeling its permanent!

Oh no, who is QF going to codeshare with now on the ever popular NTL-SYD route? :o

Rex could step in, or VA with an ATR service, that route highlights an issue with many similar routes these days, none of the traditional companies make an aircraft that small anymore for such work, with Jetstreams, Beech 1900s, SAABs all out of production, although I suppose one entrepreneur could go to Viking for a couple of twin otters!

Do you think its ok to speculate about whether its permanent markis10? I don't, and as a " moderator" you should not speculate

Given the history of operator suspensions after CASA intervention there is not much to speculate about, based on my experience, and of course speculation is not against this forums rules ;)

Alligator and Barrier Airways would be two cases in point re recent examples.

For 25 odd years KZO/P/Q were the main means of transport for Novacastrians wishing to get to SYD

VH-KZP DHC-6 Twin Otter

Not quite, markis10, only for 'airline' passengers. CityRail and its predecessor the NSW Government Railways was always the main means of non private car transport, and remain that way with the beautifully scenic run along the Brisbane Water south of Gosford. The railways would carry hundreds of times more Novacastrians to Sydney than the airlines, including many who connect on the increasingly popular Sydney Airport train from Central.

It's now NSW TrainLink: Home | NSW TrainLink, which for longer distance passengers has put on extra coaches:

Alternative services for communities impacted by Brindabella groundings

Rights, so tiger is history is it? They were grounded, were they not ?

LOL, I was referring to quick or via air, rail being neither.

Not for maintenance issues and they did not have a floating charge over their ops on a daily watch via Korda Mentha reporting back to Comm bank.
