I'm travelling with missus and 2 kids BNE - LAX on QF then onto a connecting domestic flight.
BNE - LAX is booked, I've not booked the domestic flight yet.

How can we use the AA AC in LAX. (I'm QP PS)?
For the domestic should I buy AA flights? QF codeshare AA flights? or QF award flights for the domestics?
Thanx in advance

You may like to investigate the Admirals Club 30 day membership for USD$99.

One membership will get you, a guest and your children into an Admirals club.

You can now specify the date for the thirty days to commence when ordering.

You may also be able to use it leaving Brisbane before your Qantas flight (depends on whether Qantas consider your children count as guests).

Re: Will QP PS get into LAX AA AC

Serfty,
thanks for the reply. I'm QP so I've never had an issue getting the family into domestic QP's. I'm just trying to work out how I can use AA AC's

I think the thread title (it says you are QF PS) confused things a little. :)Given you have QP membership you may be able to access the AA AC at LAX. I was going to say it wouldn't matter if it was an AA flight number but I note the Qantas site now says this re QP members' access to an AC:

Qantas Club Member
Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or Jetstar Airlines+ flight number.
One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.

I am pretty sure it used to be AA flights were OK, but as with any info re lounge access, things can change. What is currently on the site may or may not be 100% accurate. I also note that AC members can access QPs in Australia with an onward QF flight, so would have thought the exact reciprocal situation would occur. Sorry I cannot be definite - hopefully someone will be able to confirm what I suspect is true (that you can access domestic ACs with an onward AA flight - and hopefully with kids in tow as well)

Oh, and welcome to AFF!

As you are a Qantas Club member you have access to AAdmirals Club lounges when departing on an AA flight (or indeed a QF codeshare on an AA flight).

The question is the number of children you can take in with you. The QF website says 1 child (in addition to a guest who will be your wife). Issue is whether they will let in a second child. You could probably call them to find out.

As for booking domestic flights. If you are foing these in conjunction with your international ticket you may ind some QF code-shares. If you are booking the flights as separate tickets then you will be limited to AA flights only.

It makes no difference in terms of AAdmirals Club access, but may make a difference in terms of points earning (some AA fares won't earn full points or may be excluded from points earmning (although you'd need to check the most up to date rules on that)).

Note that Qantas Club access to AAdmirals club lounges is under a separate agreement to standard oneworld rules and as such is not explained in detail on the QF lounge access page or the AA lounge access page. But rest assured, there is no doubt that you ARE eligible for access. Just the number of children needs to be clarified.

As MEL_traveller indicates it's a separate agreement and a QP member is indeed allowed access to an A/C before an AA flight. Certinly such access is with one guest, but the children are at the discretion of the lounge AAngels/DrAAgons (as the case may be).

Note that A/C members are allowed any members of their immediate family (Partner/Spouse & children under 18) or up to two guests on entry to A/C's.

The AC agents are used to the American rules so children are unlikely to be refused entry-unless like mine they are now approaching 40.
We travel with our surrogate family in the US at times and their 4 children have never been refused entry to AC.

Children are under 18 for AA in the context of QP membership and its 1 unless outside of NA, if the rule is applied:
American Airlines owned lounge
Under 18 years 1 (within North America)2 (outside of North America)

Its nice to see QF have taken the effort to elaborate what are the agreements when it comes to family. http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/lounge-eligibility-access/global/en

Yes, that's the QF documented rule - I was reporting on access for A/C members at A/C's: (Admirals Club - Membership Fees And Privileges)
[h=5]Your Membership Privileges include:[/h]
  • Access to nearly 40 worldwide Admirals Club locations and over 30 international lounges operated by oneworld partner, Qantas (Must be traveling on Qantas operated flight for access to Qantas lounges)
  • Up to two guests or immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member ...

Oh, and welcome to AFF!

You made the same "error" as I did several days ago in another thread !

Bottom line: AA AC access for QP is not governed by what you see on the AA.com page !

I'd advise you to buy AA coded flights.

More SCs for the same flight (cf to QF codeshare) [I'm referring to F *].

More flight options to choose from i.e. not all AA flights are available as QF codeshares

*: QF gives you J SCs while AA gives you F SCs; for Y, it is the same

After the behavior of a table of 6 children (four under 10 years) in the dining area of the Melbourne QF First lounge yesterday I would be surprised if any airline lets any children into any lounge ever again! Their (four) parents wisely ate at another table as far away as possible. Sadly the place was groaning at the seams and we didn't have the luxury of distance from the little monsters.
