Sorry, but I have no one else to tell (no one who'd get excited about it) - just got back from Auckland and my SC's just tipped me over to Platinum for the first time!

Yay for me!

Congratulations. Don't forget to update your profile

Congrats suparockin, now I'm sure you realise that it is an achievement to attain the heady heights of WP and a commitment to retain it.

Now for WP1. :)

I got a leg up with a few DSCs, jumped from Bronze to Silver to Gold to Platinum all in one year.

62 flights or so, helluva lot of flying.

Congrats suparockin... I know the feeling, made WP for the first time myself a couple of months back (thanks to AFF!) Enjoy it!

Congrats, WP is a great benefit on QF.

Beware though you will become addicted... And will never be able to go back!

Congratulations! My first year as WP now too, funnily enough I'll requal 6 months in based on booked flights, but last year's 1400 SC were a hard stretch.

When out at dinner parties or BBQs and you then bring up the topic of being a frequent flyer and start comparing status, points, points earning, flounges, SCs being more important than points, going the long way vs straight line for SCs, comparing J seats, comparing flounges, priority boarding working or failing, WP/OWE treatment on the non originating carrier, lounge facilities (showers, amenities, champagnes, food etc), credit cards to maximise points earn, mASAs, hotels, hotel status etc etc ... it goes on and on ... then all of a sudden you realise the sickness has set in and the group of people you were talking to has slowly moved away.

But on the rare occasion you do find a kindred spirit where you can share your experiences and then it seems all worth while and the World returns to normal.

So True! I don't think I am obsessive - but I am surprised how many people in the travel industry just don't get it either.

Congrats Suparockin!!

I know the feeling of telling others your FF "achievements" and getting awkward responses like, how can you fly so much and still get excited about it?!

Good to have AFF to share all these small milestones in life...

Congrats - I made a similar post early this year when I hit WP for the first time :) A few months later and I love the business lounge (although spending more time there than I'd like) and have had a couple of great visits to the FLounge and am enjoying the better level of service :)

Thanks guys and gals.

Yes it's a bit of a silly obsession but when you fly lots of long haul it's a welcome respite of a lounge to hang in which can be priceless!

Wait until you become a two airline OWE then you know that you are addicted.
