With bookings to get to me Gold in January next year (Status reassessment End of July), I'm not sure of the logic receiving this...? Only thing I am thinking is that if I purchase the membership now, when I click over to gold the membership is put on hold until I drop back to Silver...thus this might be an OK option to "extend" the cheaper joining fee...

Is there a limit on how long QP membership can be put on hold for if I'm at gold or above, say for more than a year or two...?

I have QP membership on hold from 1997, so the answer is no limit.

Received this today too; Have been Bronze since '97, and lost the 40 status points I obtained this year when work forced me onto QLink flights to MKY & BDB....

I'll give it a miss! Question though, would it be worth the trouble taking this now or cheaper just to hold and wait til I/someone I know obtained Silver status?

And I thought the QPs were full enough already from all I keep hearing?? Why this, and why now?

Not sure how they work out the target on this one, me WP always travel with Mrs Lime. still have about 2 years lounge membership left.

Silver only gets you 1 lounge pass, per year
gold gives membership equivalent.

So a Silver, with enough bookings to reach Gold before end of membership year, is this good value...? This is that I ask myself, more than likely I'll be gold and above for a few years, but will fall eventually...

I wonder how often these promotions are rolled out, and if this one is of better or worse value than the typical offer... :)

Spend $470 now to save $385 later (or much, much later) i'm not sure there's value in this offer for me...

Had a quick check of the QF, and I always thought when you were Silver they waved the joining fee.... Or was that another "Enhancement" they made awhile ago.

I wouldn't really know/care being loyal to VA; I was more just curious to know for a work colleague I know does a lot of travel for work, where our company policy is "Cheapest Fare of The Day"

Qantas Club 45% off Email

I just received an email offering me 45% off the price of a new Qantas Club membership.

Anyone else got this?

shintaro10x , this is the only offer I have ever rec'd that I can remember. If I were about to qualify for gold, I'd consider the $350 to be a 2 year m'ship as you'll presumedly go onto hold under current conditions. I guess it depends if you have the disposable amount now.

Re: Qantas Club 45% off Email

Yeah, I got this. Am Platinum VFF but bronze QFF as work mostly books Virgin. Tempted just so I don't have to be 'loungeless' as I recently flew on Qantas and you really notice the difference not having any perks. Just not sure if I can bring wife in with me as some of the scenarios state you can bring someone in, while others refer to a guest card at an extra cost...

Re: Qantas Club 45% off Email

I called and checked. I can guest one and also bring my two kids under 18. My other half is already a member so I have acquired the taste, but when I travel myself I too miss the perk!!!

Looks like lounge overcrowding has ended as more Qantas Club members are now needed. This could be a good time for ATA for WPs to bolster the numbers. :p

Lounges must be empty again and Qantas is trying to entice some not so frequent flyers back in there. After all empty lounges cannot be good for publicity. Can they?

The other thing to consider is that if you drop from Gold you may also get offered a 3 month trial Qantas Club membership. I am not sure if this will be offered if you have Qantas membership on hold.

Re: Qantas Club 45% off Email

Good to see that QF feel the QCs are under-utilised.

I wonder if the genius who formulated this has ever set foot outside of their office at peak travel times - probably too busy catching the train to work.

Regards,

BD
