At 652 seats, Transaero's A380s could top all others#!

Seriously

Would you fly on this being

1 Russian and

2 Packed in like sardines.

It is also interesting to read that they are looking at using the A380 for Domestic flights. I believe that it would be the forst operator to do so

China Southern offer domestic A380 flights.

Sounds like the high density 747's the Japanese carriers would use.

Thanks Markis I didnt know that :D What routes do they use them on and have any of our members flown domestically on one. I womder what baggage collection would be like!

Only 36 seats in a class above whY.

As a single class how many seats would you get on a A380?

I am surprised that China Southern was the first to do domestic flights with an A380 due to short distances in china compared to USA or Aust but then they have the population to support a bigger plane.

If QF was going to do Transcon flight with an A380 it would be a loss making flight or the airfares would be higher than they are now.

As noted in the article, Air Austral had planned an 840-seat All economy layout.

If you cut back on F, J, W... there is a lot of room in the A380.

I'd say more interesting would be how long you reckon Korean Air can last at just 407-seats? Qantas used to seat less and added more seats, so I can't imagine Korean Air is that much better off.

As for would I fly with Transaero... I believe it takes more than an advanced aircraft to feel safe, the pilots have a big role to play too, as does how a business is managed, and with no offence intended, I wouldn't feel safe with their pilots. I was considering S7 a few years ago though, but I never got to try them and ultimately it might come down to the same question.

I have flown S7 Several times now and felt completely safe. I felt much much safer than flying the likes of Dragon Air, Cathy and or even Delta Airlines.

That's an interesting comment - is there any reason behind that?

As for Korean I agree it is surprising that they have npt changed confog or is it due to the fact that they can fill the J class cabin unlike QF? or that they have a strong loyal market.

In Y Korean has alwats been generous and is continues with the A380 with 33-34 inches of seat pitch QF 31 inches, BA 31 inches, EK 32-34 inches.

I was impressed by the proffessionalisim of both the flight and cabin crew on S7 they did not take any messing around and I felt that in the event of a mishap they would be able to take control effectively, where as on the likes of Dragon and Cathy I have NO confidence in the crew being able to take control, same as Jetstar Asia. Delta just does not instill any confidence what so ever the few times I flew them old planes, crew who didnt care, lack ahdherence to safety requirements ie passengers and crew happily wandering chatting serving with the seat belt sign on. Now that would NOT happen on S7

Whilst indeed CZ are the only ones to do domestic flights, some carriers do flights that are comparable to domestic flights in length (either stand alone such as SQ SIN-HKG, EK DXB-JED or as part of through flights such as EK HKG-BKK or SYD-AKL).

In the article it mentions that the proposed Y class seating on the Transaero A380 would have a seat pitch of 31 inches, so no worse than Y class in a Qantas A380.

I'm not sure why it would be an issue. When I fly an A380 I have no idea how many people are above or below me. I'd be more concerned in a 3-4-3 777 configuration.
