Just noticed this - family in Orange will be very pleased indeed

QF Club in TMW will get a bigger workout but noticed there are restrictions on baggage:

Qantas to codeshare on Brindabella Airlines

Qantas today announced it will codeshare on selected Brindabella Airlines services from 1 August 2013.

The codeshare arrangement covers the following Brindabella operated services:

  • Sydney-Newcastle
  • Sydney-Orange *

Qantas customers travelling on these Brindabella-operated services will get access to a wide range of exclusive Qantas benefits, including:

And the name Aeropelican is gone from Australian Aviation, off to the history books ;(

I've done BNE-CFS with SkyWest and will be seeing TMW in November, but BNE-TMW seems like a route I should take advantage of crossing off my map ;)

I'm hugely excited by this (although sad to see the loss of OT)
This means that I will now be able to fly NTL-SYD-LAX/LHR etc and have through-checked baggage :D

Will be interesting to see if lounge access is available in Sydney for Brindabella flights on QF codeshare. Brindabella operates from T2 but T2 Qantas club expected to close in the next month or so when QFLink flights move to T3.

I'm pretty sure that will be the case. Depends on whether one desires a walk across the car park or not

And courtesy of the new code share I just booked my first MEL-SYD-NTL :)
The memories of the old Dash 8 and the FA going up and down the aisle asking "Red or White" ;)

I had a brief look but wasn't sure on what prices should be, did you find Brindabella codeshare flights to be significantly more expensive?

I had a look at BNE-TMW for example and prices were almost cheaper indirect, with more SC/points and more frequency. Wonder if these routes will also be included in sales, etc.

I flew OAG/SYD once on ZL, which uses Saab 340 aircraft, a tiny plane only second to a Metroliner as far as aircraft that I've flown in.

We had a serious problem upon departure. The plane was full, but we were overweight. AFAICT, everyone was at "regulation" weight allowance as far as baggage (both checked and cabin) was concerned, but the airline controller would not let us board the aircraft until volunteers came forward to have their baggage delayed and uplifted on a later service, until the plane had been lightened by about 70 kg.

I wonder if similar issues may exist for services like NTL/SYD and especially if you are checking through onward or from international services (which may draw on your elite status allowance, premium cabin allowance, or both). Of course, as it is all checked through, you are always entitled to your full allowance.....

Significantly more expensive than JQ direct (I would do anything to avoid flying JQ).
Hopefully they will be included in the sales.
Interestingly there was very little price difference between Red-e-deal and Flex-saver.

That's also an interesting one.
I've flown this route a lot when it was OT connecting to/ from QF int, sometimes charged excess baggage, sometimes not.
The fare conditions on the booking screen stated 15KG with no status bonus. As I'm only going to the UK for a week I doubt I will have any real excess baggage.

I've seen this regularly on QLink Dash 8 300 flights BNE to BCI/LRE. Except that they don't ask for volunteers to be without luggage. Fortunately I have been lucky and never had y bag left behind, perhaps the WP tags are good for something.

Ahhhh!!!! First trip on this codeshare has gone belly-up. Tech issues with inbound flight. Wandered over obliviously to T2 to find this out and wandered back again to the T3 J Lounge. Staff there oblivious to FQ contact details and seemed unwilling to help. I politely suggested that I leave my BP at the desk and get them to monitor it for me.

EDIT After accepting my polite request the J lounge paged me a little while ago after finding a contact at FQ. Flight will be boarding shortly :)

That's no way to treat a Princess!

Just as a follow up to this. The FQ flight posted to my QFF account in 48 hours as a QF flight number with the correct points and full Y SC :)
