Who is [email protected], and why are they getting added to the comments section of my Qantas bookings of late, along with the title 'Travel Agent Tester'?

I use the iPhone app 'My flights' and it's been notifying me of these changes to my bookings in the last two days. (It's nothing that I see in the public front end of Qantas' website, but still, I'm interested to know. I don't recall agreeing to allow some third party having access to my booking info.. Not that I'm trying to make a big deal about that point, it's just interesting to note and wonder what's going on).

I looked up ness.com, and they seem to be some software development company.

Has anyone else noticed something similar or know anything about this?

I noticed that as well on checkmytrip today, they're listed as the travel agent.

Could've sworn it was "Qantas something or other" yesterday.

A points redemption booking still shows as:
  • GRD FLR,QANTAS CENTRE BUILDING E
  • 197-201 COWARD ST
  • NEW SOUTH WALES, 2020
  • AUSTRALIA

I've had exactly the same thing happen with one QF booking in MyFlights yesterday, but I have three other QF bookings there and it didn't happen with them. Weird.

Sounds like some testing has found it's way onto production data - not very good but have seen it happen before.

Oh, dear .... sounds like the school-kid developers have now taken over the Release Management role ...

if this *is* happening as reported, the QF should be on the front foot assuring customers that there is an issue, that they are aware of it and - most importantly - assuring customers that their accounts have not been compromised.

However - that would mean that QF would finally have to admit that they have an issue with their IT outsourcing ... booking my flight for that cold day in hell ....

Regards,

BD

An issue with IT outsourcing? What are you talking about - outsourcing achieves the exact same quality, velocity and finished product as any in-house developed software.

It's just less expensive because... because... oh cough.

It's all in-house as far as I'm aware.

Ness.com is in-house??

BD

Yeah my bad, my info was correct as of 16/8. All updates associated with the recent changes at qantas.com are in house. I can't comment on any updates beyond that date.

The recent changes to qantas.com was an in-house project.
That's sad then - so much nicer to blame outsourcers. Of course we can now move to saying because they have outsourced so much in the past, they have lost all their expertise. :)

Upon investigation, I can confirm that there's no security breach and these notifications can be disregarded.

For your reference, this matter had already been brought to attention of our IT teams. They've advised that ness.com are a service provider to Amadeus, and this issue may be effecting other airlines' bookings too.

Hope this answers some of your queries.

Outsourcing is not always as good as people think.

Yes you can save money but that is about as good as it gets. To save the money you sacrifice quality....

So we will now expect a big improvement for the next change when compared to the last IT s***f up to the QF web site.
