I wonder what's in the works, we now QFF have two major announcements coming, and I have never seen a short term DSC offer of 5 days made at this time of the year, there are also a lot of sales ending by the 9th in various geographies !

Perhaps QF will announce firming of order for 787 and also bring forward the 380 deliveries and perhaps use them AUS-Hong Kong then onto London? With Jeststar HK about to commence it wouldd give them a connection to Europe Via London and give Australians the Kangaroo Route back?

Im sure many would be happy with that :D

Yeah I think a lot of people if they bring back the Kangaroo route via SIN.
Other people would also like another route somewhere in Europe.

Yes ok but there will need to be a change in management at QF me thinks for this to happen!
Hopefully Berlin pops up as another route especially if Brandenburg airport ever gets finished?

Rumour* is that Kevin Rudd will be replacing Alan Joyce.

* A rumour I just started in this post

:p

All are highly unlikely as long as QF remains in bed with EK. (metaphorically speaking of course as I think their relationship is not technically a 'marriage' and therefore they could not actually legally share a bed in Dubai:rolleyes:)

How trips could you do with that type of cash JohnK?
I think people get totally disillusioned when they see these types of increases.

A person on a 1.24 million salary gets a 15% increase when the company is not performing that well where the majority of people on an average salary of ~$50,000/pa are lucky to get a 3% increase. It really makes no sense whatsoever.

I can't see connections to Europe through any other port than DXB, probably in their 5-year agreement. At least for Qantas, Jetstar might be another story, but I thought ultra long haul LCC's didn't work?

However, looking at the QF fleet going forward there's only going to be 3 aircraft types (mainline/international) of A330, A380 and B738. I'd imagine this would make maintenance a leaner operation, so would a B789 be an appropriate purchase? It doesn't quite have the range of the A380, and eventually you'd have to expect that to fly to DFW.

Not sure where I'm going with any of this but to say, it looks like QF will be saving money in their fleet moving forward.

I've heard rumblings that the government were looking at purchasing one of Qantas's A330s (at a discounted price) when they return from JQ and converting it to the new RAAF Prime Ministerial plane. Apparently, this discount would be in exchange for permission to setup a Jetconnect style airline in DXB to fly into Europe under the QF banner and with 787s, dedicated crew base etc

That would be pretty significant.

I'd sit in at Senate Estimates for that discussion.

Being an aviation nut is love to see a wide body prime ministerial aircraft!

That's a massive stretch but one I'd love to be true!

Was that on the Coalition wish-list before or after the mobile phone internet cough filter?

Sounds like another Rudd thought bubble.....probably not - he'd want a 747.

Zachary,

Interesting rumour, but I just can't see what the Dubai Emirati (who own EK and flydubai) would get out of it.
