I'm traveling next week SYD-MEL(QF)-SIN(EK)-HKT(3K). Booked in J (obviously except for 3K) and all on the one ticket. MEL-SIN arrives at about midnight with SIN-HKT first thing in the morning.

Will QF be able to tag my bags right through to HKT? I'm staying in the SIN transit hotel for a few hours so it would be nice not to have to worry about the bags

Last time I flew ADL-PER-SIN-BKK and the bags were tagged all the way (QF to SIN & 3K to BKK). Be aware of baggage allowance - I did actually get pinged even though I was SG (not a lot, but left a bad taste in the mouth.)

Best idea to be sure - call QF and they can confirm that it will be tagged all the way (or not) and also if you would be paying for *any* excess.

I just did PER-SIN-HKT return and bags were tagged all the way through on both routes. I had a 30Kg allce on Jetstar Asia. Enjoy the Singapore lounge!!

Mine were checked all the way through MEL -SIN on QF SIN to KUL on 3K
When I asked at the check in desk - they said no worries, as long as all on the one booking.
And a useless piece of info I now know - if you are flying 3K as part of a QF fare - as a platinum you get a free bottle of water, as a business class fare, you get a sandwich and bottle of water. (i'm not saying the sandwich is any good!)

I just fly BNE-SIN on QF51 connecting to 3K516 SIN-BKK, then return on 3K and QF. Bookings were on separate PNRs. Both ways bags would not be checked through and I really tried.

On the one ticket it should be fine but just in case the bag is only tagged to SIN, go to the transfer desk airside (ie don't clear customs) and ask them if they can retag it onto the 3K flight in the morning to HKT. That way you can remain airside so don't need to clear customs.

Transferring between QF and 3K is easy in SIN, even if the bags are not tagged all the way. Just checkin to your onward transfer desk C, show them your baggage receipts, then they handle the rest.

This doesnt always work - I tried to do this and was told "sorry you will have to go collect your bag and check in"

I have never experienced this issue and have always had the ground staff in at the SIN transfer desk organised the bags to be loaded onto the 3K flight.

I would have asked to speak to a supervisor.

As gazzman mentioned, you simply present your baggage receipts and while entering the receipts numbers into the computer, they are normally only the 2 way contacting baggage staff to collect the bag and retag your bag.

We have done it several times.

Excellent, thanks.

If they refuse in SYD I'll try again in SIN. The only possible issue I can see is that it's about 7 hours before the flight and technically the next day (by a small margin!)
