Just a quick question.
About to transfer points for a 2 one way J to Paris next year.
Only want to transfer just over the 86,700 required.
Given you can’t go past the select flight screen if you have insufficient points, will the system recognise the 15% discount at that point in time, or do I need to transfer the full 102,000 to be able to complete the booking

The points price quoted on the first screen already includes the 15% discount so you would need to send that amount (102,000). If you rang Enrich it would cost 102,000/0.85. = 120,000 pts.

Thanks for that dajop, you learn something new every day.
Still good value at 51,000

102,000 points for a return J trip to Paris (or 51,000 points one way) is really good value!

That's even better when KUL to Europe is on A380 in J.

Indeed but the A380 is only being used for LHR and CDG. AMS, FRA and IST are being served by the B772.

Have just completed payment for our AMS return trip. What are the AMS J seats like? I have read (Skytrax) issues with cabin service, is this correct?

The B777-200 seats are angled flat. 8 or 9 degree angle, I believe. I found it reasonably comfortable and probably the most comfortable for sleeping of all the angled lie-flat seats I've tried. Cabin service should be fine but there's sometimes a bad apple in there. I usually go to LHR or CDG and the cabin crew have always been fantastic and friendly.

Good news re CC.
On reflection I probably should have booked via CDG for the A380. We live and learn.

Thanks for info on the seats. I was worried they'd be like the seats on SQ's SIN-IST flights which I found not very flat, fiddly and claustrophobic. Now if they keep the cabin temp cool enough I'll be fine. ;)

The MH angled seats are definitely flat (on an angle, of course) but not fiddly or claustrophobic. I find that MH tends to keep the cabin temp reasonably cool but not cold. I really hate it when the cabin is too warm.

Me too. I don't understand that they cannot comprehend it is preferable for passengers to grab a blanket than for me to disrobe.:lol:

In fact, I sleep even better when the cabin is cold and I can snuggle up in the warm duvets that MH provide in J.

So for the noob question but what is the points requirement for SYD-BKK/HKG with MH in business?

I have Amex membership rewards and I am starting to look at ways of using them.

John, a quick check using an arbitrary date 1st October yielded this below. The same points are required for the return.

Thanks for that information.

So the points required are the same as SQ? Transfer from Amex membership rewards from memory is 1->1? Schedule to HKG looks much better and I can also utilise my Oneworld Emerald status.

More food for thought.

I have Amex membership rewards and I am starting to look at ways of using them.

BKK and HKG are 25500 in Y and 46750 in J one way.

Oops. Slow post. Went through a black spot for reception on the train...

Thanks.

Not sure I am ready to try and sit in MH economy.

I really should go down the back on one of my future MH business class flights to check if the MH flight in economy is civilised or not.

Why sit in Y when you can sit in J?

Just to do a one way points comparison in J
SYD-KUL. 34,000
SYD-HKG. 46,750
SYD-LHR. 51,000
