Just to do a one way points comparison in J
SYD-KUL. 34,000
SYD-HKG. 46,750
SYD-LHR. 51,000
Weird, I know, but I'm not complaining as I do most of my redemptions for KUL (or any other Malaysian destination), LHR or CDG.

Hi MHfan,

is it worth 68000 points return in J syd-kul on the A330? I've only travelled on their 772 and 747 out of SYD.

I think it's good value, considering that a paid ticket is usually in the vicinity of $3500-4000! I personally don't think the J on the A333 is as nice as the J on the B772. You could always choose to fly during the day instead of the overnight ones. I've done both and I managed to get some sleep on the J seats on the A333.

Thanks for the info. Are the J seats on the A333 as flat as the 772?

No. It feels just slightly convex and it feels like your stomach is protruding out a bit. It's almost like having too much lumbar support. The tray table is the most annoying part of the seat though. It's badly designed and is too chunky.

Couldn't agree with you more there, k3nnis! They should drop the A380 service to HKG and that would free up their 6th plane to come to SYD. The current A380 schedule for the twice-daily KUL-LHR and daily KUL-CDG flights only requires 5 planes.

And now that the bilateral air agreement has been revised and capacity between the 2 countries has been increased, there is no longer an excuse for MH not to bring the A380 to SYD!

Yep very good value! Wish SQ was similar :)

SQ is not too bad if SIN is not your final destination in SE Asia.

I have just been looking at one-way award SYD/BNE-HKG in business next Easter and I have managed to find a saver busienss award BNE-SIN-HKG with suitable times for only 46,750 miles + ~$220 in taxes. I know the BNE-SIN leg is an A330 but the midnight departure is suitable and the SIN-HKG leg is on A380 which is not my favourite but should do the trick for a short flight.

Thanks for the input guys. Need to save up the altitude and MR points!
