Why do shops airside, (even La Duree in CDG) need a boarding pass to let you purchase a single Macaron/anything?

Is it just to make sure you are travelling, as I see no way to get in here without a valid boarding pass. And if going to such extremes to get duty free you could just borrow or fake a boarding pass, but I don't know how you'd get back landslide.

Well in Australia there is the odd flight where you can travel a domestic route on an international flight so they need to check if you're actually eligible for duty free.

I travelled domestically on an international flight for my double SC run - I didn't think I would be able to buy from the shops in Sydney however I was served and not asked for a boarding pass - admittedly it was only a small purchase

Interesting. I may try doing that on my next domestic trip through SYD T1.

Heck of a lot of people airside with no boarding pass and an easy way to get out, they are called shop staff, cleaners, ATC etc, if there was no boarding pass required the temptation to avoid tax might be high, especially as their is no scanning leaving the area.
