I am wanting to use my QF points on a booking to NZ but would like to travel on an EK flight ex BNE. I have only ever used QF points on QF flights and EK points on EK flights. Is it possible to use QF points on an EK flight and if so how do you do it. Can they be booked online and on whose website etc. Thanks

QF points can only be used on QF the web site or QF phone (just like all other partners)
Have you looked on the QF web site ?
Or phone QF to ask?
Both will get a more reliable answer than forum opinion's

Until recently, this was not possible as the NZ government had not approved the QF/EK alliance in respect to Trans Tasman travel. However, such has now come through and awards can now be available.

Unless you can get it in writing from Qantas, I would suggest that generally more useful answers may be found on AFF.

Have you priced what the fare would be if purchased?

Sometimes using points to NZ is poor value & could be better used for J award flights within Oz or overseas.

How many QF points do you have to burn & how many pax?

Thanks babe, I have about 150K but will have around 250K by the time I will be ready to commit to a booking. Would be for me and Mrs Eric & we always fly in J or do use F when TT on Emirates. Am doing a big trip to South America in Sept and looking for a trip back home to NZ in Nov for a family get together. I usually can get approx 25-35K of QFF points per month thanks to CC points so any flights within oz are no problem. Used points before on QF and travel backwards and forwards on EK a lot. Now it's an easy choice, fly QF in a 737 or fly EK on a 380, doh what do I do (that's a no brainier) and that's why I would like to use QF points on EK. I don't have enough points in my Skywards account for a freebie.

Ex SYD you can book QF321 which is a code share on LAN metal but I can't see any QF codesahares on EK metal (yet).

If doing a JASA you get better value booking further afield eg CNS/BNE/AKL 36K plus $306.09 plus you can 'stopover' in BNE ie do a separate ticket BNE/CNS then fly CNS/BNE on the first leg of your JASA - good for a weekend away.

Then a month or so later fly BNE/AKL on the 2nd leg of the JASA & you could maybe buy an EK one way fare AKL/BNE.

A BNE/AKL JASA is the same points & a little bit less cash at 36K plus $266.93.

EK fares AKL/BNE for Oct are NZD198.00 for Y & NZD598.00 for J.
