Advance Seat Selection for NB?

As an SG I booked an upcoming trip for my parents thinking my status would assist with their seat selection as they are only NB - however this was not the case.

I have them going SYD-LAX-SYD on the 380 however available seating to NB is very poor (I've been spoilt haven't I?).

Is there anyway to get them better seats or are they doomed to T-24 lottery? I was trying to get them upstairs in Y.
