Staying here tonight

Booked a normal room for $209 and got upgraded to a Relaxation Suite instead, the check in girl said all the exec rooms are booked but she gave me a Executive room card so I am going to try my luck getting into the lounge tonight.

The room is awesome, with a spa separating the bed from the bathroom, and a full size mirror opposite the spa - definitely looking forward to my missus having a spa tonight

Anyway the wife and I are very impressed so far, and for $209 this one night getaway is looking great.

AFAIK you always get Exec Lounge access with a suite.
Enjoy the soak in the tub watching TV

O my god. What has happened to this place. I have stayed here over 50 times, am a diamond member and this stay the booking was messed up, the service has been useless and it turns out that room service cant even provide half of the items on the room service menu.

Have they gone this far down hill.

Do I give up with Hilton?

If you've stayed there 50 times, you'd know that what you are describing is NOT normal Hilton Sydney style.
Hit up the manager - not a forum where nobody can help you.

IME as Gold, can have it in either place. No need to mention at checkin

Should qualify my statement by saying that I haven't stayed there as a Gold for a couple of years so hopefully someone will have more recent experience than myself to confirm !

Glass, by a long margin

Yeah Glass, it has full hot breakfast, the Lounge only has cold/pastries , which is useless if you're on a paleo type diet or anything that doesn't specify loads of sugar + gluten.

Glass has a slab of real honeycomb too which is neat.

Only downside that I've experienced is the room size. I'va always had an upgrade and if the corner room is larger, I'd hate to see the "normal" room.

Glass is nice for breakfast.

as a gold i just go to glass
when Mrs C stayed with me she went down to brekky separately on my booking with no issues

My first stay there was the night I proposed to my wife in 2009! We enjoyed it so much, we had a wedding suite (?) for a week during our wedding, and it helped that our reception was held at the Tea Room in the QVB.

I have always had good experiences staying there since then too, so recommended by me.

That PRC13 rate (or whatever it is, I've got it written down here somewhere) - have a feeling that stays booked under this rate don't count for the Q2 promotions, but does it still allow Gold perks?

Shouldn't see why not. I've used that code for a stay in Bangkok and got the full perks.
