Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Sydney of late, will be in Sydney for a couple of nights mid Feb.Your thoughts and comments would be great.

Nice fresh new rooms.
Breakfast is a fantastic selection.
Exec lounge is better than many other Hiltons.

I rate it high on my Hilton list.

As above.

Only thing to note is that rooms (including exec floor) are on the small side. If you are going to stay in a reasonable amount then you might want to consider a nor 1 upgrade to a larger room.

I liked the rooms and the hotel location, but found the lounge to be noisy, crowded and staffed poorly. Maybe I have just been unlucky. :(

Rooms small, stupid narrow windows, bathrooms tiny. Location excellent. My least favourite 5 star in SYD.

I stayed at the Hilton Sydney last October. I was upgraded to an Executive Level room. Here are some pictures:

Looking into the room. I checked-in in the evening, hence why it's rather dark.

Vanity sink. It's a compact bathroom, believe me, even though it still sports a full-sized bath tub.

Another in-room shot.

Inside the Executive Lounge. Comfortable enough, if a bit crowded like an airport lounge.

I've stayed a few times at this Hilton (well, it is the only one of its brand in Sydney).

Pros:
  • Good location.
  • Excellent breakfast at glass (a fairly generous continental selection if you take the Executive Lounge breakfast)
  • glass itself is a good restaurant (Luke Mangan for the cook conscious)
  • Great views from Executive Lounge
  • Comfortable rooms

Cons:
  • Walls are a little thin between rooms
  • Rooms and Executive Lounge are a bit small, but then I think, "This is Sydney"
  • Decor is a little dated, though most of it has been given either an update or a touch up
  • Small bathroom. A vanity sink, shower, bath and toilet all manage to fit in the size of an average office

I've found the staff generally good in my experiences at Hilton Sydney. They are not spectacular like HSW, but they are certainly up to standard and I'm quite content.

Thanks for the feed back guys, the reason I asked the question I normaly stay at the Westin or Shangrala both in there club floors, seeing I am able to get an N/C upgrade @ hilton I thought I should give it a go. Stayed at the Hilton Surfers Paradise a few weeks back and I was impressed .

My stay was fine but not my first choice in Sydney. Was staying a few nights so wanted to put a few of my own things in the fridge but had to get an extra fridge brought in because of the minibar set up. While they did do this it did take a while to get it organised think they were hoping I just give up.

I found the rooms a little on the small side. Some of the AFF'ers came back and had a drink earlier this week. I liked the powder room though and that is high on my list of priorities, especially if you are entertaining guests. Service was very good, even though something was incorrectly charged to my room it was sorted.

I stayed last year and got an upgrade to a King Spa Suite. I expected only a standard room with a spa, but walked in to find a massive lounge & dining room, an enormous bathroom, and separate bedroom - the apartment took up the whole end of one floor! Decor was ok but a fairly typical basic modern style. Service was good for the limited time I was actually there. Exec lounge food was pretty good from memory.

I like the Westin . But their club lounge was poor, what is the shangri la club room like ?

If it doesn't matter if you win or lose.......How come they keep score?

Great Location
Can use skytrain to town hall station as easy across the road

Rooms small
I find the rooms very dark and a bit depressing - a bit like the Hyatt Grand Central in NYC.

pshepvic - Kingspa looks similar to what bossreggies's suite'
His 'small' was the biggest hotel room I have been in
(admittedly have only ever had suite upgrades at Stamford Plaza Bris and Le Merid Jakarta)

My junior suite overall was a little bit bigger size than bossreggies sitting room
Bathroom was big enough with a second wc off the siting area
I had great staff sevice in the exec lounge
Brekky there was about what I'm used to
Still haven't beaten the Beijing Westins breakfast but the lounge there doesn't exist anymore :(
Bet I never get another upgrade again!

Stayed here many times. Staff are polite and efficient. Favourite room is the Relaxation suite ( I prefer it to the King Junior suite). I always pick this as a NOR1 upgrade. Corner room, TV over bath with a view.

Powder room.
The Exec Lounge is OK but nothing special. The quality and quantity of the canapes seems to have improved of late. Might just be me but I do get a teeny bit annoyed at the lack of a self service bar in the Exec Lounge. Always feel like a scrounger either queueing for a re-fill or waiting an eternity for the wait staff to notice my glass is empty. Not sure if its a NSW RSA thing or not but annoying none the less.
Breakfast is much better in Glass Brasserie. Glass is also nice for an informal dinner ( truffle mash to die for)

When I was there I helped myself to the wine that was out, as did a number of others, an nobody said anything about it. Didn't realise we weren't supposed to!

My impression of the regular Hilton rooms, having seen the anat0l's room in person, I found the rooms to be on the small side and it was pretty bland to be honest. I would much stay at a regular room at the Westin Sydney where their rooms feel much more comfortable.

Hi GPH
i don't know if the horizon club rooms are any better(or the same as)than non club rooms, however I have found the Horizon Club always very good, consistent service and good food. This upcoming visit I will need to I need to spend time at the Syd E/C so the Shangra la is too far away in the Rocks.

Great looking bath PF, thanks for the photo, I wouldn't mind going prune like in there. I am unsure if I could get an upgrade to that catagory of room.?

The beds at the Westin are great, but I still find the rooms a little too modern-sterile. I much prefer the rooms at Sheraton on the Park.
