I doubt it can be done, but knowing this lot, someone is bound to have a trick up their sleeve...Is it possible to do a status run for SG for cheaper than the $485 per year for QP membership?
If so why would anyone buy QP membership rather than go for status?
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Qantas allow using only points for a QP membership but it is in the hundreds of thousands of points which would be in-proportionate to the value of a QP membership, especially since you cant use OW lounges abroad.
You can get SC's for around $1 per SC with a lot of effort, but that's in the USA only.
You may want to retry your maths there... Even stock standard red-e-deals SYD-MEL can get you down to 7c per SC...
I think you may need to redo your math buddy. 7 cents per SC.. Tell him he's dreamin![]()
Sorry, I was basing that off one of those $79 fares (so technically 7.9c per SC) but just looking at the current options, it's more like 10.9c per SC. Still far short of a $1 per SC... -> I should have probably also put a few of these things ->in my original post to show I was more teasing and that I realised $1 was probably a typo...
er, 10SC for $79? I think that might not be 7.9c/SC.......
-> Your right, ignore everything I just said. For some reason I was thinking about points not SC's... I personally blame a long day at work...
Hot dam! We were almost there with that 7.9c/SC.
The search continues. Let's perhaps readjust the challenge as suggested above.
Assume that a flyer earns enough SC in a regular year to make PS, including those four QF flights.
Is it easier/cheaper to get the remaining SC to attain SG than to fork out the money to buy QP membership?
