Lts!

Apologies for the confusion. I was seeking clarification from the Service Centre specific to Skyring's posts. There's no change to LTS eligibility or benefits. :)
OK now i'm more confused. I'm reading that it's implied he should get his invite each year as LTS, even though he's a WP. Is that right?

I'm assuming Skyring got the PS invite as they went from NB to WP in one stretch (assuming they passed PS and SG on the way as well).

To clarify: does LTS have one pass a year still sent? :)

Congrats on both your milestones.Does your little travel companion get anything?
Strange you should mention this. As it happens, he has an old QF WP bag tag attached to his shirt because he's had a few close calls along the way. Almost dropped into New York Harbour by my daughter posing him for a photo op as the Statue of Liberty sailed by on the Staten Island Ferry. Dropped into the Piccadilly Circus Underground entrance by a gust of wind. Lost for a while by the Washington Memorial - all within a week of each other.

I was on the flight out of San Francisco to Chicago last week, had a bit of a snooze, woke up to find that Routebear, tucked in to the seat pocket, had scored a mint. And a junior flyer's passport.

I was ecstatic on his behalf. Went and found the FA responsible, hugged her hard and spent the rest of the day smiling.

It's his eighth trip around the world (and a few halves), so I might make up a few more logbooks to hold his flights. The five years spent as my co-driver on night shifts around Canberra will remain undetailed.

I was never actually eligible for the PS and SG upgrades. By the time I'd completed my fourth eligible QF flight (SYD to CBR on a Dash-8) I'd completed QF108 from JFK and passed the 1 400 SC mark.

This actually caused me a bit of a tremor. After 24 hours on the plane since having a shower at the BA lounge in JFK - and there's a bit of a story to that as well - I felt that it would be a courtesy to the rest of the passengers (and crew) if I had a shower in Sydney before the final leg.

So I rocked up to the lounge, presented my boarding pass to the young lady at the door, and as she studied it, I realised that it read Silver and I was flying Economy, because of course the Dash-8 has no J cabin. And my 30 AA Admiral's Club Membership had expired somewhere in the international dateline limbo. I was b*uggered.

Luckily the lady took pity on me, when I explained about the DONE4 and how if I rebooked my flight on a jet service I'd be eligible for entry. So I got my shower and most welcome it was too!

Thanks Qantas. On behalf of my seatmate.

He qualified for LTS first and that is why he got the pass. Technically he was never PS or SG.

That's the question to which Red Roo is seeking an answer

That's what you think! Didn't you realise Routebear (love his name) has been slyly running his own on-line blog.

Are all those Canberra cabbie stories really true? He's detailed enough scuttlebutt for a mini-series!

I made LTS earlier this year but have not received even a letter - maybe it's still in the mail????

Congratulations on Lifetime Silver skyring!

Regarding a new invite being sent each year, please PM your FF number so I can follow up with our Service Centre. :)
I reached Lifetime Silver as a Platinum and I have never been sent a complimentary lounge invitation after reaching Lifetime Silver.

Only for Manuka pickups :)

That's where the honey is. ;)

Is it true that the receipt writer shows Kingston instead of Fyshwick for pick ups and drop offs?

I won't labor the point but congrats on joining the LTS Club.

Update to add some more info to this thread: So I got my letter in the mail today congratulating me on Silver Frequent Flyer lifetime recognition. I only got a letter, not a pack, lounge access card or membership card etc. In the letter, it specifically says "This doesn't affect your current Platinum membership status, it will simply come into effect should your membership status change from Platinum in the future. We will send you a Silver lifetime membership and card only if and when your Platinum status changes."

So I would take from this that the OP was officially NB (or possibly PS) when LTS clocked over before hitting SG or WP.

Correct. OP stated they went from NB to WP in one stretch, so obviously the LTS letter was generated prior to obtaining SG or WP.

This pretty much confirms that LTS does not get the annual free lounge pass (which is what I thought; I only got the letter too).

Damn, that does reduce the value of LTS quite a bit :(

Or just provides the incentive to head towards LTG (I'm slowly edging there! Another 1200 SC's or so in the next few months will see me over 10k at least).

Realistically, the lounge invite is to give a taste of what lies ahead in the status game. What use is it for a SG or WP but to donate to a family member or friend or auction it on eBay - or what I did with my last couple which was to go down to the youth hostel and ask the staff to find a couple of people who they thought might appreciate some comfort.

Qantas could pretty much have the same effect by scattering them around the community or handing them out with random tickets.

It would be nice, but as a WP, I get my lounge access and I get to guest in family and friends.

It is interesting that a perceived low value non-status person gets a lounge invite and a high value status pax doesn't. I know I don't need a lounge pass but if I had more kids I could use one...

The high value status pax that make gold or platinum get a whole complimentary membership. Nothibg wrong with giving others a pass to try it out....

I don't see it as confirming that at all.

If you are SG/WP and LTPS, you won't get a pass.

If just LTPS, then you may very well get one every year, just like a normal PS.

All this just makes me remember that the greatest enhancement I want is a return of guest passes in some form or other.

The funny thing is when I accidentally reached PS 18 months ago I got a lounge pass even though I am LQP.
