Just finished 3 years in a job where I travelled to Perth every one to two months.

I thought the food in J was getting better and better so not sure what the "step up" to Intl Bus food will entail.

Mind you, I really enjoyed the Skybeds in the 747 that plied the route on and off... prefer to the A330 and way, way better than a 767 to me

I actually thought the food on SYD-PER last year, really after the airline shutdown in late 2011, was really good... and I travelled SYD-LAX-SYD at Xmas, and that was good too

As much as I dislike Virgin, if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be seeing QF lifting their game in customer service and food, so at least I can be thankful for that!

Too right - VA have been doing this type of service for nearly 18 months ... of course, to really catch up to DJ 332's in business class, they need to get rid of those 332's that sport the JQ style super cramped seating - so they still have a looong way to go.

VA are certainly my preferred Business class transcontinental carrier at the moment.

Yep and the refurb of the Qantas A330's is about 2 years away still!

I believe AJ mentioned these last week in the speech at Macquarie and I got the impression its happening this year, could be wrong!

Yep it is mentioned in there but no real-time frames!

Qantas to upgrade A330 business class with new lie-flat seats - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller - Late 2014 start date

http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20130221/pdf/42d525lvtqds0y.pdf - Late 2014 start date

Beginning in late 2014, the Group will reconfigure the interior of 10 Airbus A330-300s and 20 A330-200s with a

new flat seat in business class, refreshed economy cabin and a new inflight entertainment offering.

Wonder if they might start this to DRW - or lack of pax makes it not worthwhile.
Only if VA starts flying A330s there, in my opinion.

QF would prefer to provide trans-con J pax with 36" pitch 2-3-2 seating, fortunately competitive pressures don't allow it.

ISTR Qantas is commencing this food upgrade from around the end of May? If so, will miss it by a week or so. :(

Just read the article in the Qantas newsroom, and it appears the "international style menu" is only being offered on West bound flights. Am I reading this correctly?

Wouldn't mind this being offered from ADL too. We are only 30 minutes behind you know, not 30 years. Hey, we even got colour TV two years ago!
