Flying in December

See flights on the AA 777-300ER or 777 200 and on BA 744.
I know the BA "front to back" product but looking on the web can see that the new AA 300ER looks very nice.
Questions: I really want to be guaranteed the fully flat bed. Is the 300ER the only one with that seating?
What about the rest of the AA product on transatlantic Food, IFE etc.

I note that AA taxes are half the BA taxes and 3000 less points. A no-brainer maybe?

For me, BA, AA have only a few (1 or 2) new 777's - BA's is almost flat but its really not a very very long flight - also food is better on BA (that's an opinion only) and also check the time you are landing at JFK - BA is Terminal 7 and AA Terminal 8, your wait at Immigration in 7 can be long unless you have good runners and are the first few "out the door". Have a great flight anyway - I looked at the new AA 777 and it looks great but I might say not before time.

Thanks for that.
The Qantas booking engine clearly shows the new AA 777 300ER on certain flights so I'd hope they wouldn't change equipment too often. So if we can get that a/c then the question becomes "is the BA food worth $240 per pax" (the difference in taxes between flights). I think not, given we'll be sleeping as much as we can!!

Have you considered the BA2 or 4 that goes into LCY? Means you avoid Heathrow (unless you need to be at Heathrow)

+1 to that. And it is all J with flat beds. You can also eat in the restaurant prior to the flight and hop on and go to sleep. LCY is also very close to the City.

Friends live 20 minutes from LHR (we haven't told them they'll be picking us up yet!!) so I'll look in to LCY. Like the eat and sleep option!

BTW I did a take-off from LCY in the Singapore simulator - wow - pretty short runway!!

For sure - one for the bucket list

+3 to that along with Tooner and amaroo :)
Personally I think the catering on BA is Bl**dy Awful but for me the hard product is pretty good, coupled with the convenience of LCY. The airport is literally tiny, two minutes walk to the DLR and 10 minutes to Bank from there.
There is also the irresistible allure of an all J flight ;)

53,000 points for BA1 LCY-JFK looks like a bargain!

And since there is only 32 pax on board, you're on your way fairly quickly.

Well, I've taken everyone's advice and booked the AA flight on the 300ER! :)
The hard product looks good.

Only 50k points each but more importantly, taxes were only $230 as opposed to to $416 pp.
I'll report back in December!

Sure is, the other huge benefit of that flight is the US immigration clearance at SNN en-route to JFK :)
Does that mean you have to pick up your bags at SNN also to do the US Customs bit?It would be good to just arrive at JFK as a domestic pax with the immigration formalities behind you.

V keen to hear of your trip in J on the 77W - it does look very similar to CX's new J and is meant to be huge improvement on 772 J (not a stretch I admit :) )
