Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

On another note, a little smile was brought to my face when waiting to board an AF flight from Prague to Paris a few days ago when lo and behold, over the loudspeaker chimed "Emirates and Qantas [pronounced Kuwantass] flight EKxx_ to Dubai is now boarding from gate X". Made me a little homesick, got over it very quickly once arriving in Paris ;)
And there was I thinking the smile was because your AF flight had been cancelled and you were placed with another carrier. ;)

I actually don't mind AF short haul, it's no worse than BA, and at least the FAs, while being the same 'vintage', seem to be far more attractive and pleasant. It's either them or Czech on that route direct, I know which I'd choose...

I'll disagree with that. I've found AF FA's to be nothing other than ....... French (read between the lines). Funnily enough, on my FRA-LHR flight yesterday in Club Europe, I had probably the best BA crew I've experienced to date.

Fair enough, I personally like the French, but then I'm not an arrogant chauvinistic English speaker who doesn't even bother trying to speak the pleasantries in French, so YMMV, but I'm sure as hell not flying via LHR to get from PRG-CDG! That's just madness! ;)

The French are fantastic as soon as they realise that you are not English. An appropriate rugby shirt usually does the trick. :p

Not having to fly via LHR to get PRG-CDG is more easily avoided by not travelling to CDG in the first place.

You're assumptions are astounding.

I have to agree, CDG is the pits as an airport. I try to fly into Europe anyway other than CDG, though maybe if domestic I'd have less of an issue. I'd rather sit on an uncomfortable bus for 4 hours to Geneva instead of take a train to Paris to go home through CDG.

The word is 'your' by the way, and I'd suggest that you probably didn't read the post before it was redacted which made reference to concreting over the whole of France from memory.

The Cathay lounge in CDG 2A is actually quite nice, with an excellent view, the airport staff efficient, and the terminal clean and non-offensive.

I also arrived at 2F on an AF flight, and it was similarly fine, at least they both were last week when I was there.

Try flying into FCO and tell me you don't prefer CDG. The taxes are also far lower than the zoo that is LHR. I love Italy but FCO resembles a concrete box, the only thing separating it from downtown Fiumicino outside is the graffiti.

Saying that, Geneva is a very impressive facility.

Can I conclude that there is no SC to be gained on that route of diversion then?

Nothing direct, sure if you are SC mad you could probably connect with BA, AB or AY. Would still be madness in my opinion considering the short flight time.

I'm also 130 SCs off WP with a November expiry, see no benefit at 2400 and nowhere near WP1, so not an issue for me. Quite liberating to not be bound to OW for a change.

As a QP, and a QFSG, what lounge/s can I access flying MH F from LHR?

I assume the EK lounges are not an option on non-EK/QF flights?

MAS fly from T4, so it'll have to be the MAS lounge... BA use T1, T3 and T5, while QF and EK use T3.

Anyone know if Malta (MLA) will end up being code shared, or indeed if anymore code shares will come out as various approvals go through?

My challenge is to find a reasonable way to book a one-way LHR-MEL in F, with a short stopover in Dubai, on specific QF flights in July.

Complicated reasons, including a bunch of pre-booked flights for travel over the next 12 months, including one-way FASAs, so no need for a return leg. Plus the fact that my partner's flights LHR-DXB-MEL are already booked, as part of a return MEL-LHR itinerary. Obvious issues around one-way pricing, of course. That's taken as read.

But the QF website does not even show a ridiculous price for the routing LHR-DXB-MEL. It simply brings up an Error message when I attempt the multi-city booking. Similar result for attempts at a FASA on the route.

Going on to the Emirates website, I can book the trip, on the required days, and on the specific flights. QF flights, that is, but with EK flight numbers.

Rang QFF to ask about the Error message and was told that the site was probably not loading correctly and I should sort that out on my browser. Did so. Confirmed the five green ticks. Tried again to book, on two different browsers. Same result.

Rang back and after several long periods on hold, was told that it was an issue of fares in Premium cabins not yet being "aligned", although Economy fares had been, and that the fare for the routing that I wanted was "not at the cheapest rate". When pressed, he told me that the one way fare, which had "not yet been aligned", was something over $15,000.

Asked the obvious question, as to when they would be aligned, which led to another long period on hold. The staff member to whom I was speaking was trying to be helpful but it was quite clear that he could not translate into anything acceptable whatever he had been told. The gist of it was that fares would only be aligned in one direction. I let him off the hook eventually, as there was no possibility that an acceptable answer - or an answer acceptable to me - was going to emerge.

The price on the Emirates site is something around $5,500 for the one-way fare, on the required QF flights.

So, the question for the AFF experts is:
How do I book on the Emirates site, with a QF flight number? Any way in the world of doing that? Obviously, I want the SCs and the QF numbers for the trip.

I could call Emirates and ask the question but my telephone tolerance is just about zero at this stage. :) And the answers will be here anyway!

Am I missing some really obvious way through this? Any help gratefully received. :)

Have you tried doing it in multi-city instead of direct to the destination with DXB the middle? Worked for me with classic - opened up plenty more flights.

Yes, have been using mult-city, as outlined above, which brings up the Error message. [Need a stopover, anyway.]
