Booking confirmed but no e-ticket issued

Slightly OT, but are there any issues booking flights through third party providers? Points, SCs, FF benefits etc?

If your credit card gives you extra points for your carrier you wont get them through a 3rd party provider.

That is not necessarily true HVR. Many OTA's and travel agents can process the transaction through the airlines merchant facility.

Too true. I don't think Amadeus is at fault as I've just recently made AA bookings and instant e-ticketing

So if i see a flight cheaper on Expedia than on the airline website, i can book it and get the same result? Any gotchas?

Expedia seem to use the airline merchant for the airfare and there own merchant for any booking fees.

I haven't used expedia.com.au to book a QF fare so I can't confirm they do this.

And this is true. I have always had a good experience with Expedia. My modus operandi is to book tickets on Expedia with Alliance (*A, OW, ST) airlines.

Yet I put around $500k per year through Expedia and always use the .com website. If I don't get what I looking for I pick up the phone and get a Manager in NY first time.

Never had a problem. Just be wise with what you are doing or use a TA.

And never ever use .br, you are just asking for trouble :-D

What's .br, please cirqueboy?

I'm intrigued as to how bookings including personal detail get onto checkmytrip.com? Are there other sites that would have bookings made through QF (besides QF)?

checkmytrip is a website run by Amadeus, so pretty much any reservation in Amadeus (eg Qantas bookings) will be viewable in checkmytrip. So, your details get there, as it is just looking up the reservations system that you made your booking in.

If your booking is solely a Qantas booking, made on the Qantas website, it is likely that it will only be viewable in one of the Amadeus applications:

If you have other airlines in the same booking; or
If you book on a website that uses a different reservation system (zuji/expedia)

then your bookings/details may appear on other GDS systems.

The thing is that the data is not getting into checkmytrip, its that checkmytrip is able to look up your reservation information. In a simialr fashion, if another airline uses Amadeus, you may be able to locate your Qantas bookings on their websites as well.

Further to that, QF's privacy policy does cover disclosure of personal details to Amadeus:
QF Privacy Statement said:
"We may disclose your personal information to third parties...data processing companies (including operators of global distribution systems and payment clearing houses)..."

Check My Trip is the Amadeus tool to view your bookings, when you use your Amadeus PNR reference the system accesses your booking and displays it. For Sabre bookings you can use Virtually There or for Galileo/Travelport bookings Tripview.
